(3/1/2015) - On Saturday, February 28th, Broadway Serves hosted its third Kids Serve event. Taking place at the Minskoff Theater, over 30 children from the NY theater community attended. The kids donated toiletry items and created toiletry bags to be given to Urban Pathways, a not-for-profit, social service and supportive housing organization serving homeless adults in the NY Metropolitan Area. Kids Serve performers hailed from shows like Matilda, The Lion King, Les Miserable, Kinky Boots, Iowa, Radio City, and the tours of Shrek, Once, and The Lion King. (3/1/2015) - Are You Havin' Any Fun? the formidable Barbara Cook breezily asks in song with the intimacy of an old friend. Having had her first paid (50 cents) singing job at the age of eight, Cook looks back on a lengthy career feeling lucky. It's been weeks since she's sung due to health issues laying her low, but Cook is not, she assures us, by any means down and out. I like to feel people are on my side and you sure sound like you are. Throughout her show last night as part of the American Songbook series at Lincoln Center's The Appel Room, the artist performs with honesty, commitment, and the compelling interpretation for which she's well known. She asks that lights be turned up in order to see those with whom she communicates.

The way Tune had just danced, sung, and charmed, no one including producer and Elizabeth Taylor look-a-like Jan McArt could believe the stunning nine time Tony Award winner was a senior citizen. A designated New York City Living Landmark had become a snowbird for the weekend to perform at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University. Review Roundup: KID VICTORY Opens at Signature Theatre

(3/1/2015) - Virginia's Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production of Kid Victory, a new musical from legendary composer John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and acclaimed playwright Greg Pierce (Slowgirl). The production began performances at Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre on February 17. It will play for five weeks, through March 22.

(3/1/2015) - Today in 2009, Guys and Dolls opened at the Nederlander Theatre, where it ran for 121 performances. Guys and Dolls is a musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. It is based on 'The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown' and 'Blood Pressure', two short stories by Damon Runyon, and also borrows characters and plot elements from other Runyon stories, most notably 'Pick the Winner'. Premiering on Broadway in 1950, the original production ran for 1200 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical has had several Broadway revivals as well as West End productions.
