Now Playing Onstage in Delaware - Week of 3/02/2014 GOITSE
The Grand Wilmington
Forged in the white-hot creative crucible of Limerick University's Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, the quintet has made a name for themselves as one of the most sought after bands amongst connoisseurs of Irish Traditional music, having won feverish critical plaudits for their Donal Lunny-produced second album Transformed. Their distinctive sound lies in the quality of their own compositions interspersed with well-known traditional tunes, which make each set entertaining and unique. The gripping rhythm section sets a breath taking pace for the music while through the sweet, charismatic voice of Áine Mc Geeney draw audiences into the music in a way very few performers can achieve. Lace up your dancing shoes and get ready for a night of wonderful music and fast paced fun with Goitse.

Now Playing Onstage in Delaware - Week of 3/02/2014 ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA
The Grand Wilmington
Dweezil Zappa keeps alive the musical legacy of his legendary father, Frank Zappa, with the tribute Zappa Plays Zappa. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the classic album "Roxy & Elsewhere," Dweezil Zappa redefined the Zappa Plays Zappa mission as a band and sculpted it into the current 6 piece configuration with Dweezil Zappa on Lead Guitar and Vocals; Scheila Gonzales on Saxophone, Flute, Keyboards and Vocals; Kurt Morgan on Bass and Vocals; Chris Norton Keyboards and Vocals; Joe Travers Drums and Vocals; and Ben Thomas on Lead Vocals, Trumpet and Trombone. When Dweezil's father toured with smaller ensembles he referred to them as his 'Rocking Teenage Combo.' Smaller in size doesn't mean smaller in sound. Not for Frank or Dweezil. This fine assortment of handpicked musicians all have their own unique qualifications but it's their dedication to preserving and performing the detailed music of Frank Zappa that unites them and thrills audiences across the globe.

Now Playing Onstage in Delaware - Week of 3/02/2014 THE ODD COUPLE
Smyrna Opera House
Unger and Madison are at it again! Florence Unger and Olive Madison, that is, in Neil Simon's hilarious contemporary comic classic: the female version of The Odd Couple. Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela brothers. But the hilarity remains the same! Mingle with the director and actors afterwards. Desserts generously provided by the Smyrna Opera House Guild.

Now one of the most performed shows in America, SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (LUCKY STIFF, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and RAGTIME) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge--not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.SEUSSICAL is fun for the whole family! Performers of all ages will be excited to portray the characters from the familiar Dr. Seuss fables.
