This weekend nine-time Grammy Award winning artist José Feliciano met with music students who are blind and visually impaired and attend classes at Braille Institute San Diego. The meet and greet was held before his one-night-only performance at Poway OnStage on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017. The students asked him questions about his music career and gave him mementos. Mr. Feliciano signed autographs and talked about the importance of Braille despite the increasing ubiquity of audio books.

He reminded everyone in attendance that "Braille is an important language for the blind that cannot be replaced."

It was a very special opportunity for Braille Institute students to meet Mr. Feliciano, who was born blind. "It's really inspiring to meet someone who is a successful musician who also happens to be blind," says Denise Bravell, a student at Braille Institute and also a volunteer teacher for the organization's Music is Fun for Everyone Music Appreciation Class.
