The Studio Theater won first alternate at the Region VI American Association of Community Theatre Festival (AACTFest) competition in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 8, 2017 with its production of "Buyer & Seller" by Jonathan Tolins.

Buyer & Seller is a one-act, one-man comedy about Alex More, an underemployed Los Angeles actor who accepts work as manager of Barbara Streisand's basement mall.

The Region VI festival featured seven one-act plays by community theaters in Arkansas and Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico. AACT's theatre festivals are part of a multi-year process that culminates in a national festival held in odd-numbered years.

"We are proud that we were chosen as alternate to represent Region VI," said Justin Pike, artistic director for The Studio Theater. "We send a huge shout-out to Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center Community Theatre Encore Players who was selected to advance. We look forward to seeing their journey to nationals!"

The Studio Theater is a community theater, part of the theater district in downtown Little Rock. It released its 2017-2018 season and has applied for nonprofit status. Donations mailed to 320 W. 7th Street, Little Rock, 72201.

AACT's mission is to help theatres thrive, with expertise, assistance, networking and support to help create the best possible experience for participants and audiences alike.
