Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) presents the first three installments of what will form "Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose," a full-length play, as part of thier residency at Mr. Dennehy's on 63 Carmine Street in Greenwich Village at 8pm on Thursday, August 22. Admission is free, with a $3 suggested donation. D3C also celebrates it's third season by expanding its repitoire to include matinee performances of previous works at the East Village restaurant Exchange Alley at 6pm at 424 East 9th Street on August 25. All performances feature works by playwright Stephen Gracia, directed by Michael LoPorto.
The first three parts of "Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose" include the following short plays: "That Every Sunken Ship May Rise Again," "Threats & Psalms & The Delight of War," and "Bone Dry but Determined to Drown." "If you come to one night, you will see three new plays that can be seen and enjoyed with no knowledge of the previous or successive works," explains Gracia, "if you join us for the entire season, you'll see characters and story lines reappear."
After three years in the West Village, D3C expands its offering to include a new residency at Exchange Alley, a popular East Village restaurant. A new & expanded version of the play "Fast Food Strategies" will be performed to kick off a series of matinee-style performances there on the Sunday following D3C's traditional fourth Thursday of the month performances at Mr. Dennehy's.
Dialogue with Three Chords is a theatrical collective founded in 2011 by Stephen Gracia and Michael LoPorto. It applies the do-it-yourself philosophy of punk to the stage and features short plays and live music. Their work has also been produced at Sargent Theatre, Makor Theater, DUMBO Theatre Exchange, Dixon Place, Levenson Hall at Brooklyn College, the Theaters at 45 Bleecker and the Soho Gallery for Digital Art.
