Broadway Designer Mark Adam Rampmeyer Becomes Head of Goodspeed's Costume Collection

Goodspeed Musicals has announced that designer Mark Adam Rampmeyer has joined the organization as the Costume Rental Manager. Mr. Rampmeyer's career has spanned more than 30 years in professional theater and he is very excited to pursue this new career opportunity. In this new position Mark will be responsible for curating the collection of over 250,000 pieces which can be used in Goodspeed productions and rented to professional theatres and universities across the country. "This is a brand- new direction for my career and for Goodspeed's collection," he stated, "I look forward to the first time I get to hang the work of an emerging designer next to that of some of the theater world's greatest talents like Gregg Barnes, Willa Kim, William Ivey Long and so many others currently in this incredible collection."

Mark, who originally hails from Smyrna, Delaware, is no stranger to costumes having previously held numerous positions as a designer and dresser. Before moving behind the scenes he was a performer for many years and earned his Actor's Equity card at Allenberry Playhouse in Boiling Springs, PA. Mark's passion for the performing arts has led him to many areas of the industry ranging from props and electrics to choreography and directing.

Mark's Broadway credits include Hair and Wig Design for West Side Story, Lysistrata Jones, and The Farnsworth Invention. Other Broadway credits include 42nd Street, Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Dracula the musical as the Production Hair Supervisor. As a hair stylist Mark was very lucky to be a part of such amazing productions as Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close, Phantom of the Opera and A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden.

Prior to joining the Goodspeed family he was the Associate Artistic Director at the John W. Engeman Theater on Long Island, NY. There he directed several critically acclaimed productions including 42nd Street, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and A Christmas Carol, a Ghost Story of Christmas. At Goodspeed Mark was Hair and Wig Designer for numerous productions including Happy Days, Big River, 42nd Street, A Funny Thing...Forum, Good News, The Most Happy Fella and the current production of Damn Yankees.

Dedicated to the preservation and advancement of musical theatre, Goodspeed Musicals produces three musicals each season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn., and additional works at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., which was opened in 1984 for the development of new musicals. The first regional theatre to receive two Tony Awards (for outstanding achievement,) Goodspeed also maintains The Scherer Library of Musical Theatre and The Max Showalter Center for Education in Musical Theatre.
