Summer Youth Intensive
The Canadian Opera Company's Summer Youth Intensive program returns to inspire and challenge youth who have a strong interest in the performing arts. Youth aged 14 to 18 gain insight into the life of a working performer by receiving vocal training, as well as rewriting and restaging scenes from operas featured in the COC's 2010/11 season. The five-day intensive workshop culminates with a performance of their creation for family and friends.Summer Youth Intensive$150 per person

This interactive one-week program teaches participants the skills they need to recreate their own versions of Rossini's La Cenerentola (ages 6 to 9) and Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos (renamed Ariadne on Naxos for the summer camp, ages 10 to 12). Led by professional COC artists, these young people take part in hands-on music and drama activities, movement and make-up workshops and costume, prop and set design. Participants will perform their creation for family and friends at the end of the program. The program is $150 per child for one week, with some bursaries available.
