Webster U. Students Make a Case for Marriage Equality With Reading 1/30

By:

The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University will present a staged reading of "8," a new documentary play by Dustin Lance Black, about the federal case for marriage equality. Black is the Academy award-winning screenwriter of "J. Edgar" and "Milk."

This free performance, featuring Webster Conservatory students, is part of a national effort spearheaded by Broadway Impact and The American Foundation for Equal Rights to spur dialogue and understanding around marriage equality issues (learn more at 8theplay.com). "8" will be performed on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at 7 p.m., at the Conservatory Spaces, 17 S. Old Orchard Avenue, Webster Groves, MO, 63119.

To reserve your free tickets or to get additional information, email gadguterman95@webster.edu. Space is limited. Reservations will be confirmed via email.

The Webster University Conservatory is the first institution to kick off the new leg of the “8” project.

The staged reading will be followed by a Q & A session with Andrew Shaughnessy of PROMO, Missouri's statewide organization advocating for LGBT equality, and moderated by Tony-award nominee Hunter Bell. The performance is presented in collaboration with Bell and fellow Webster alumnus Michael Scott, currently in the Broadway cast of The Book of Mormon. The production is directed by Webster alumna Michelle Bossy, currently the Associate Artistic Director for Primary Stages in New York City.
