For the first time in its history, the Met will present Cendrillon, Jules Massenet's 1899 operatic adaptation of the classic Cinderella story, with performances beginning April 12, 2018. Joyce DiDonato stars in the title role, conducted by Bertrand de Billy in a staging by Laurent Pelly.
LA Opera presents Giacomo Puccini's thrilling masterpiece, Tosca, conducted by Music Director James Conlon. The final mainstage presentation of the company's 2016/17 season, Tosca is a revival of the production staged by the company in 2013, directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner John Caird. There will be seven performances from April 22 through May 13, taking place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012).
Argentine opera singer, Florencia Fabis, suffered a stroke on stage while singing Giuseppe Verdi's 'Requiem'. She died two days later at the age of 38. Below is a video of that performance.
