Manca poco meno di un mese all'evento teatrale piu atteso da tutta la comunita teatrale di tutto il mondo: il 9 giugno infatti, al Radio City Music Hall di New York, si svolgera la 73esima edizione dei Tony Awards. Per la seconda volta, James Corden sara il presentatore di questa serata, dopo aver ricevuto un Emmy Award per la sua performance nel 2016. Il 30 aprile, Bebe Neuwirth e Brandon Victor Dixon hanno annunciato i nomi delle opere teatrali (play e musical) in diretta streaming. Noi di BroadwayWorld non stiamo piu nella pelle! Ma soprattutto non possiamo stare con le mani in mano e, per il bene comune, vogliamo parlarvi un po' dei protagonisti di quest'anno: attori e spettacoli per lo piu poco noti in Italia ma che rappresentano, senza ombra di dubbio, il meglio di questa nuova stagione di Broadway. Nota a margine: ci muoveremo esclusivamente all'interno dell'ambito del teatro musicale (non ce ne vogliano gli appassionati di plays). Cominciamo questa nostra 'carrellata' con i protagonisti-non-protagonisti di quest'anno!

San Francisco Opera presents Anton n Dvo k's Rusalka at the War Memorial Opera House, June 16 28, in David McVicar's thoughtfully conceived and brilliantly executed (Chicago Tribune) production. The Czech fairy tale opera features a cast headed by Rachel Willis-S rensen in her role debut as Rusalka, Brandon Jovanovich as the Prince, Jamie Barton as Je ibaba, bass Kristinn Sigmundsson as Vodn k and Sarah Cambidge as the Foreign Princess. South Korean maestra and Houston Grand Opera Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim leads the cast and San Francisco Opera Orchestra in her first Company engagement. Chorus Director Ian Robertson prepares the chorus.

The Donmar Warehouse today announces full casting for Artistic Director Michael Longhurst's inaugural Donmar production Europe by David Greig. Joining previously announced cast members Billy Howle (Berlin), Kevork Malikyan (Sava), Faye Marsay (Adele), Stephen Wight (Billy) and Shane Zaza (Morocco) will be Theo Barklem-Biggs as Horse, Ron Cook as Fret and Natalia Tena as Katia.

The Santa Fe Opera's General Director Robert K. Meya today announced repertory and casting for the company's exciting 64th Season in 2020. On the panel joining Meya for the announcement were the President of the Board of Directors Susan G. Marineau, Andrea Fellows Walters, Director of Community Engagement, and Cori Ellison, the company's first, recently appointed Dramaturg.

Next month, FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club & Private Event Destination, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond.

The French Woods Music Department is excited to announce its latest collaboration. Members of The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will join our French Woods Orchestra and Maestro Douglas Droste along with singers Andrea Burns and Caesar Samayoa in a special side by side concert on June 18th.

Broadway has officially gone way down under the ground with the opening of Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre! A teen-helmed production of the Tony Award-winning rock musical, Spring Awakening, is set to open at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood on May 11, 2019. Directed by 14-year-old wunderkind George Baron, (whose directorial debut for the stage was his jukebox-styled Broadway musical revue I Confess at the Whitefire Theatre), the cast also features up-and-coming young talents performing in the adolescent roles with musical direction by Estani Frizzell. The musical is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 controversial play about teenagers trying to find their way in the world amid the angst of sexual discovery. Featuring music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, the original Broadway production received eight Tony Awards including Best Musical and was hailed by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle as the Best Musical of the Year.

As it approaches its 2nd anniversary, the North American tour of Disney's Aladdin has announced that five new principal cast members will join the company starting on April 25 in Salt Lake City, where the hit Broadway musical will play a limited three-week engagement at The Eccles Theatre through May 12.

Hartford Stage announced today the cast and creative team for the world premiere musical The Flamingo Kid, helmed by Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak. The musical, which closes the 2018-19 season, boasts an impressive cast of Broadway and regional theatre talent. Performances for The Flamingo Kid begin on Thursday, May 9, and run through Sunday, June 9.

ArtsBridge Foundation today announced the nominees for the 11th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards, with winners to be unveiled at a spectacular April awards ceremony.

After roles in Channel 4's Pure (Libby), ITV's Unforgotten (Sandra Rayworth) and a lead alongside Sharon Small and Hugo Speer in Acorn TV's new cop drama (coming to a UK channel later this year) London Kills (Billie Fitzgerald) - actor/writer/singer-songwriter Tori Allen-Martin returns to the stage with her furious new play, KARLA HAS A VOICE. Tori who was named as one of the BBC'S New Talent Hotlist in 2017 is excited to be premiering the new work in a reading at The Park as part of the Prism Project on Wednesday April 10th at 4pm. The reading is open to all, industry and public alike and tickets are free via Eventbrite.

The Houston Symphony announced today the 2019 2020 Bank of America Summer Sounds lineup at Jones Hall with tickets now on sale. This year's Series melds together symphony music with captivating concert experiences, animated feature films and orchestral arrangements of music by iconic artists. The lineup includes Virtual Reality in Concert: Music Illustrated, The Music of Queen, The Music of Selena and Disney's The Little Mermaid Live in Concert.
