Winner of the 1950 Tony Award for Best Musical, Guys and Dolls is one of the first musicals about the actual street called Broadway as New York City's vital thoroughfare, not the theatrical Broadway of kick-lines and curtain calls. This is the first time Guys & Dolls has not been produced at the Alhambra Theatre and Dining since owner Craig Smith took over the venerable theater in 2009.

Multi-platinum producer, Jonas Blue, has kicked off the new year with a band as he drops the soon-to-be pop smash “Don’t Wake Me Up” with hotly tipped US band Why Don’t We. Blackeyed Theatre have today announced their acclaimed production of Frankenstein will be coming back to the stage in January for a two-month tour. Adapted by Nick Lane from John Ginman's original 2016 adaptation, Frankenstein will open in Bracknell on 27 January, touring to theatres across England until 29 March.

Originally scheduled back in September, the wait was worth it to hear Laura Benanti sing selections from her roles on Broadway and a few tracks from her 2020 self-titled studio album in her debut Cabaret at the Center which was part uproarious stand-up comedy act, and part beguiling Broadway/Jazz concert. Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the 2022 Gala “Paint the Town” will honor RTC alumna and friend Chita Rivera (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Nine) on Monday, March 7 at 7pm at the Ziegfield Ballroom in New York City.

Alex Wyse and Ben Fankhauser have joined forces to write and star in A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet, a new musical off-Broadway. The show is “is everything you want the first new musical premiering in NYC to be: whip-smart and stupid funny, packed with songs as catchy as a jingle.” I had the opportunity to see Regina Comet this past weekend and had such a fun time!

Lois Smith has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for THE INHERITANCE.

The full cast has been released for Dreamgirls, as it embarks on its first ever tour of the UK, opening at the Liverpool Empire Theatre this December before visiting cities right across the country throughout 2022 and into 2023.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary Palm Canyon Theatre (PCT) will present The Guys, a play by Anne Nelson.  The play is about the aftereffects of the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Ahead of the premiere, BroadwayWorld had the chance to speak to Heder about how the film came to be, how she ended up casting actors from famed theater Deaf West, and how working on a bilingual set became part of her artistic routine.
