The 1940's Radio Hour

The 1940's Radio Hour is now playing at Lamplighters.​ The musical, by Walton Jones, and directed by George Bailey and Pamela Stompoly, runs through December 19, 2021.

The 1940's Radio Hour, award winning musical, and holiday favorite by Walton Jones, returns Dec. 3-5 and 17-19 live, in-person at the Rose Center Theater. Set against the backdrop of World War II, this heartwarming show follows a group of Radio Artists at Christmas as they attempt to make it big on the 'Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade.'

Lamplighters Community Theatre will present The 1940's Radio Hour, directed by Pamela Stompoly & George Bailey and produced by Heather Kenney, featuring music direction by Benjamin Read and choreography by Bruno Bosardi.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Playing through December 23 at The Players Centre is The 1940's Radio Hour, A Prairie Home Companion-type production that takes us back to the good ole days of radio, where voices and sound effects allowed your mind to wander and create a world only you could envision. Although film and television have taken that away from us and replaced it with stunning visual effects, I still like to listen to the old radio shows, especially the mysteries. This production makes you feel comfy cozy as if you were home listening, all warm and bundled up, while it snows outside.

From Dec. 6 though 23, Strike up the band because the holidays are alive and thriving at The Players Centre for Performing Arts, in their production of The 1940's Radio Hour. With a book by Walton Jones, based on an idea by Walton Jones and Carol Lees, this patriotic holiday tale will give audiences a dose of nostalgic Christmas cheer. The Players production will have that big band sound you love with a 16-piece orchestra! Students from Pine View School, under the direction of Vic Mongillo, will volunteer their time and talents along with professional musicians to create that classic sound.

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (UCLA TFT) announced today a new revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, set to open Friday, May 6, 2016 at UCLA TFT's Freud Playhouse. The play, directed by UCLA TFT Adjunct Associate Professor Jeremy Mann, with musical direction by Adjunct Associate Professor Dan Belzer, will feature Broadway actress Linda Kerns and undergraduate acting students from the UCLA TFT Department of Theater.

Cortland Repertory Theatre is turning their new downtown performing arts venue into a swank and swinging nightclub to celebrate Valentine's Day with Sweet, Sinatra…And All That Jazz, to be held on Saturday night, February 13th.  New York City crooner and CRT star Marcus Goldhaber and his jazz musicians, The In Time Band will provide an evening of live, smooth jazz music, and a dance floor will be available for those couples who would like to cut a rug.  Also include in the ticket price is an elegant dessert buffet, with delicacies created by local dessert artist Mary Turturro of "Mary's Cakes".  Complimentary non-alcoholic punch will be available, along with a cash bar with wine from Americana Vineyards and beer from Bacchus Brewing Inc.  Seating is reserved, and will be arranged cabaret style at small four-person tables.  Singles or couples, families or groups of friends are invited; all are welcome to sit and enjoy the sweets and music, or show their dancing skills on the dance floor.  Tickets are currently on sale and are $35.00 per person.
