The 2023 Lower East Side Film Festival (“LESFF”) will host a special 30th-anniversary screening of Richard Linklater's, 1993 cult classic, “Dazed and Confused” with live commentary from comedians, Jordan Carlos (The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore) and Phoebe Robinson (HBO's 2 Dope Queens, Everything's Trash) on Friday, May 5 at the Village East Cinema with a 9 pm showtime in Mystery Science Theater 3000 style.

Raven Theatre has announced its 41st Season, kicking off this fall with an ingenious and hair-raising revival of Lucille Fletcher’s drama Night Watch directed by Georgette Verdin.

The national tour of JAGGED LITTLE PILL, the musical based on Alanis Morisette’s album of the same name, is due to arrive in Schenectady on May 2. The show follows the Healy family as they deal with some heavy life issues. Making his touring debut, Dillon Klena is playing the role of Nick Healy (a role his brother Derek originated on Broadway).

I feel that the most important thing I do as a writer for Broadway World is assist theatres in cultivating excitement for the next generation of storytellers. Whether I am there to review a show, give feedback, or talk with the budding thespians, spotlighting their ideas and accomplishments brings me a lot of joy. As Whitney Houston once sang--'I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.' I feel that Susannah Linnett, Executive Director at Silvermoon Children's Theatre, 217C W. Broad St., in Texarkana, is doing just that. Next weekend, April 27-29, their troupe will be performing SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. I was fortunate to watch a rehearsal before I sat down with the leads of the show. From what I saw, I am confident saying that this is going to be an incredible show. The cast is wonderful. They sound fantastic, and they work well as an ensemble. I am disappointed that I will not be able to see the final results of their hard work, but I feel blessed that I was able to chat with Erin Eppinette, Miriam Bennett, Isaac Linnett, and Braden Craig for a few minutes.

Brittney Johnson is an accomplished and commanding performer. She made her Broadway debut in MOTOWN THE MUSICAL understudying the character (based on) Diana Ross. I had the distinct pleasure to chat with Johnson about her career as she gears up to perform in Montreal in a special concert version of MAD HATTER THE MUSICAL, where she is portraying 'The Queen of Hearts'.

GRAMMY Award-winning global superstar Kelly Clarkson has released 'me' and 'mine,' the first singles from her upcoming album 'chemistry.' Comedian, television host, New York Times best-selling author, Chelsea Handler is heading to the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston on November 17. The star of four standup specials is currently traveling the country on her “Little Big Bitch” tour.

GRAMMY, EMMY, and Tony Award-winner Billy Porter will star in and co-write a new biopic based on the life of author and human rights activist James Baldwin. Porter has stated that it has been a career-long goal to bring Baldwin's story to the big screen. Baldwin's work includes 'Go Tell It on the Mountain,' 'If Beale Street Could Talk,' and more.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's (STNJ) 61st season will begin on May 31st with Tennessee William's The Rose Tattoo.  This exuberant, extravagant tale of Serafina Delle Rose, a Sicilian widow living on the turbulent Gulf Coast outside of New Orleans, is an astonishing and poetic ode to this irresistible force of sensuality and the power of longing, hope, and desire.
