Hotter Project (Mary Higgins and Ell Potter) join with their long-term producing partner and collaborator Ellie Keel, to bring their new show The Last Show Before We Die to this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe at Paines Plough's Roundabout at Summerhall from 2 to 27 August, with press welcome from 5 August.  

This Summer Paines Plough's portable pop-up theatre venue Roundabout will return to  Summerhall at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Last summer and this winter, I visited Broadway with the intention of exploring the series of cultures related to Broadway, rather than just watching the shows. In particular, I wanted to find out what the differences were between the theaters in the United States and Korea, having watched various performances in Korea and working as an usher in a Korean musical theater.

Raven Theatre has announced its 41st Season, kicking off this fall with an ingenious and hair-raising revival of Lucille Fletcher’s drama Night Watch directed by Georgette Verdin.

The national tour of JAGGED LITTLE PILL, the musical based on Alanis Morisette’s album of the same name, is due to arrive in Schenectady on May 2. The show follows the Healy family as they deal with some heavy life issues. Making his touring debut, Dillon Klena is playing the role of Nick Healy (a role his brother Derek originated on Broadway).

I feel that the most important thing I do as a writer for Broadway World is assist theatres in cultivating excitement for the next generation of storytellers. Whether I am there to review a show, give feedback, or talk with the budding thespians, spotlighting their ideas and accomplishments brings me a lot of joy. As Whitney Houston once sang--'I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.' I feel that Susannah Linnett, Executive Director at Silvermoon Children's Theatre, 217C W. Broad St., in Texarkana, is doing just that. Next weekend, April 27-29, their troupe will be performing SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. I was fortunate to watch a rehearsal before I sat down with the leads of the show. From what I saw, I am confident saying that this is going to be an incredible show. The cast is wonderful. They sound fantastic, and they work well as an ensemble. I am disappointed that I will not be able to see the final results of their hard work, but I feel blessed that I was able to chat with Erin Eppinette, Miriam Bennett, Isaac Linnett, and Braden Craig for a few minutes.

The Fisher Center at Bard will present Illinois, a world premiere music-theater work based on Sufjan Stevens’ acclaimed album of the same name, June 23–July 2.

Brittney Johnson is an accomplished and commanding performer. She made her Broadway debut in MOTOWN THE MUSICAL understudying the character (based on) Diana Ross. She quickly followed that with LES MISERABLES, a production in which she performed one character at a matinee and the other that same evening! Most recently she made Broadway History by becoming the first Black Woman and the first woman of colour to play the title role of 'Glinda', in WICKED on Broadway. I had the distinct pleasure to chat with Johnson about her career as she gears up to perform in Montreal in a special concert version of MAD HATTER THE MUSICAL, where she is portraying 'The Queen of Hearts'.
