Slow Burn Theatre Company and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts invite audiences to Head Over Heels, the bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening, from June 10-26, 2022. The musical is presented by American National Bank and sponsored by the Josephine S. Leiser Foundation and Funding Arts Broward, Inc. (FAB!).  Set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s and featuring a book by Jeff Whitty and adaptation by James Magruder, this laugh-out-loud love story is directed by Patrick Fitzwater.

Brian Kite, interim dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, announced today that Academy Award-winning actor Troy Kotsur (CODA, Spring Awakening) will deliver the keynote address at the school’s 75th annual commencement ceremony. Writer-director-producer Amy Aniobi will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Dean Kite will preside over the event to be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Short North Stage's Performance Interns presented their end of year showcase on the mainstage where Spring Awakening is currently playing. These high school students participated in a free year long program that gave them access to masterclasses, talk backs, professional performance opportunities, and more. Featuring students from 11 area high schools, this showcase was their chance to take center stage and shine in their own spotlight! The program is directed by Dionysia Williams, Associate Artistic Director at Short North Stage, and recently held auditions for their 2022-23 program. On Monday (May 9), Atlantic Theater Company presented their 2022 Gala, Let’s Party!, at Loeb Boathouse at Central Park (Park Drive North, East 72nd Street). This year, Atlantic celebrated the first season back on their stages following the 18-month shutdown due to the global pandemic.
