The Milwaukee Premiere Of HADESTOWN Opens Tonight, Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30pm at the Marcus Performing Arts Center for one week only through Sunday, May 7 as part of the 2022/23 Johnson Financial Group Broadway at the Marcus Center Season.

What did our critic think of BEATRICE RANA, PIANO at Schubert Club?

Closing out the 140th season of the International Artist Series will be the astounding young Italian pianist Beatrice Rana. Originally announced as part of the 2020-2021 season, Ms. Rana's recital was one of many performances we were thankfully able to present online when concert halls remained shuttered due to the pandemic. Audiences who tuned in from around the world were treated to a lovely and intimate program by Ms. Rana and her sister, cellist Ludovica Rana, at the Abbazia di Santa Maria a Cerrate in Italy.

The hour is a fun, joke-packed, story-filled exploration of being single deep in your thirties in the internet age and the banalities of hangups and nostalgia and was met with a standing ovation following its first run in January.

The Wayward Artist has announced the West Coast Premiere of In The Green by Grace McClean. Performances start April 14, 2023 and will continue through April 30th at the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana.   

Based on Book IV of the Aeneid, the opera was composed in 1688 and is considered one of the great works of English Baroque. Unprecedented montage has scenic direction by William Pereira and musical direction by Luis Otavio Santos, who commands the Orchestra do Theatro Sao Pedro. The performances take place on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th of March.

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, I had the pleasure of seeing DOUBT, yet another first-rate performance by the Castle Craig Players at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse in Meriden, CT.  I had previously seen the movie in 2009, but I must say that this play, which originally pre-dates the movie, is far better, especially with this cast!  The play is written by John Patrick Shanley and brilliantly directed by Oliver Kochol who brings out the best in this stellar cast whose stage chemistry with each other is so strong that every interaction feels real!
