FINDING ME Cabaret Comes to Raj House

'Finding Me' is an original cabaret show written and performed by Phi Theodoros and James Dean. The show made its debut the Adelaide Fringe with shows in Adelaide at Raj House and in Port Lincoln at the Rogue & Rascal. After 4 star reviews and packed houses 'Finding Me' was invited back to Raj House for two encore shows during the Adelaide Fringe. 'Finding Me: Volume 2' was nominated for the 'Best Music' award and won 'Best Writing' for the Cabaret Fringe Festival earning a review of 4.5 stars. The show now boasts a full band, 'The Tainted Saints' consisting of Drummer Troy 'Rapscallion' Benson of the acclaimed 'Orelia' and 'Thom Lion', Marduk Gault of Studio Flamenco notoriety on the electric guitar, Solo performer Hannah Yates on the bass guitar and James Dean on the keys. As the series pertains to socially relevant themes which course through the veins of this modern American classic - revealing a community's response to the brutal murder of the openly gay college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming in 1998 -- the "Community Conversations" topic on Oct 21st will focus on creating and maintaining "Safe Spaces" for LGBTQ people. Trump Administration Launches 'Winning on Reducing Food Waste' Initiative

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced the signing of a joint agency formal agreement under the Winning on Reducing Food Waste initiative. The agreement is aimed at improving coordination and communication across federal agencies attempting to better educate Americans on the impacts and importance of reducing food loss and waste. It seems that everything and anything goes wrong. This sets in motion so many mishaps, the audiences can't stop laughing from start to finish. Carrying forward the 'Hot Jazz' legacy of the great Django Reinhardt, this internationally renowned group features one of Europe's greatest musical families, guitarist/violinist Dorado Schmitt and his son Amati. The family is joined by virtuoso violinist Pierre Blanchard and accordionist extraordinaire Ludovic Beier, who 'played as great a solo on his accordion as Toots Thielemans at his zenith' (Downbeat). 'Dorado Schmitt's virtuosity was on full display via lightning-fast finger work, powerful strumming, wild sweeps across the fingerboard and astonishingly fast tempos. BWW Review: CTC'S I COME FROM ARIZONA Cuts to the Heart of Contemporary Immigration Concerns

 In a New York Times article dated October 14, 2018, 'A Mexican Man's Fatal Journey to Reclaim HIs Life,' the newspaper retells the story of Adrián Luna, a man from a small town in Idaho. His life scenario reads eerily familiar to the themes in the World Premiere Play at Children's Theatre Company (CTC) titled 'I Come From Arizona.' In another play titled, 'Augusta and Noble,' playwright Carlos Murillo depicts a related story for these character, while in 'Arizona, he relives the story of a 14 year old girl Gabi, who must negotiate attending a new college prep high school in tony North Chicago. She also needs to care for her younger brother, Jesus, while worrying if her father will remain Safe while he visits his dying father in Mexico. Both stories, in the newspaper and at the theater retell the plight of immigrants in America, both documented and undocumented, and certainly other than illegal. (more...)

AboutFACE Ireland have announced the final selections for the 2018 NEWvember New Plays Festival Dublin – a showcase of original plays to be held at The New Theatre in Dublin's city centre, November 8-10 2018. The announcement was made by AboutFACE Co-Artistic Directors Anna Nugent and Paul Nugent. NEWvember Dublin will feature these works over a three-day weekend, presented via rehearsed readings. After 5 years of NEWvember Festivals in New York, this is the 2nd year the event will be held in Dublin. The spirit of NEWvember is to provide a dynamic, interactive and welcoming place where writers can hear their plays read by seasoned actors, and discuss their work and creative process.
