DreamWrights to Reveal Capital Improvements to the Public

On Thursday, September 28, DreamWrights Center for Community Arts will reveal the improvements made possible by its recent $1.8 million Capital Campaign. This Open House event will include a ribbon cutting at 6:00pm with local dignitaries including York's mayor, Kim Bracey. A donor reception will follow with music and light refreshments. Tours of the newly renovated space will be offered throughout the event. Capital Campaign Co-Chairs, J.T. Hand and Suzanne McConkey, Solicitors, Ambassadors, DreamWrights board members, leadership, and staff including DreamWrights' new Director of Artistic Programming, Laurie Riffe, will be on hand to meet and greet.  (more...)

The Players Centre for Performing Arts Preps for Irma with Cancellations

In anticipation of Hurricane Irma's possible arrival, The Players Centre for Performing Arts is preemptively cancelling and postponing programming, rehearsals and events from Saturday, September 9 through Monday, September 11. Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director Receives Genius Grant

The Pussycat Foundation, established in the spirit of Cosmopolitan Magazine editor Helen Gurley Brown, has awarded Northern Stage's Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne a Genius Grant of $250,000 for her achievements in theater arts, recognizing her as a pioneering artist and artistic director. The Pussycat Foundation awards Genius Grants to individuals who dedicate their lives to transformative work with bold leadership and vision. The dollars awarded to Carol are split evenly between Northern Stage and the New London Barn Playhouse, which Carol led from 2008-2014. (more...)

After being pushed out of its prior location in Downtown Brooklyn two years ago, Cumbe found a new home via its partnership with RestorationART at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation's dynamic new 21st Century Complex. The Otto M. Budig Theater, the new custom-built home of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company in Over-the-Rhine, opens on September 8 with A Midsummer Night's Dream. The production runs through September 30 and is directed by Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips. The cast features longtime resident ensemble members Matthew Lewis Johnson as Bottom, Giles Davies as Oberon, Associate Artist Miranda McGee as Titania, and Associate Artistic Director Sara Clark as Puck. The production is sponsored by Bartlett & Co, LLC. The season is funded by ArtsWave and the season sponsors are The Otto M. Budig Family Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council. (more...)

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Celebrates New Theatre with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) has completed construction of The Otto M. Budig Theater and will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting and Welcome Celebrations Events this weekend, August 11-13, 2017.  The Official Ribbon Cutting will be at 6pm on Friday when CSC Leadership will be joined by Mayor John Cranley and Otto M. Budig out front of The Otto M. Budig Theater at 1195 Elm Street as they "cut" the ribbon using traditional Shakespeare swords and daggers!  Then guests will move inside the theater various locations in the lobby and building are dedicated and "toasted" with glasses of champagne.  This event is invite only.
