BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of “Scunge! A Mobbed-Up Christmas Carol” – written by and starring Broadway’s Dominic Scaglione, Jr., Andy Karl, Dominic Nolfi, and Matt Bogart – from Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18.

BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of living legend Marilyn Maye for a special seven-show holiday engagement from Thursday, December 29 through Sunday, January 1, including the “New Year’s Eve Extravaganza!” on Saturday, December 31.

In addition to our Department of Theatre & Dance productions each quarter, a big aspect of the UC San Diego theatre scene is Muir Musical. Since 1991, this completely student-run musical theatre organization has been dedicated to providing all UCSD undergraduates with the opportunity to participate in a fully produced, large-scale musical during Spring Quarter of each year. From Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2013) to Hair (2005) to American Idiot (2022), this theatre company has been a consistent place where students can create, experiment and of course, have fun. 

 The McKittrick Hotel, home of Sleep No More, announced its highly anticipated New Year’s Eve celebration, The Midnight Ball. The one-night-only soirée will take place throughout the hotel on Saturday, December 31.

The Public Theater has announced casting for the world premiere of THE HARDER THEY COME, a musical adaptation of the classic Jamaican film produced and directed by Perry Henzell and co-written with Trevor Rhone.

The upcoming season will feature rarely heard classical and jazz music for various instruments and voices performed by Bloomingdale's outstanding faculty and guest artists.

The “consistently excellent record maker” (MusicRow) delivers a timeless country love song, which he co-wrote alongside Brad Wagner and Jordan Gray, with production by Jacob Rice and Jody Stevens. Brimming with heartfelt lyrics, Langston promises all his money and time, plus his last breath and last name on the ballad.

Catherine Russell has a full schedule of performances slated throughout the East Coast and in Europe to finish off the year. Among them include her annual four-night residency at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center from September 29 through October 2, with two shows nightly.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced complete casting for the Special Benefit Concert Reading of The Pirates of Penzance. The concert will be taking place on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the American Airlines Theatre.
