Inspired by true events from the Covid pandemic, Jab is an uncomfortably familiar black comedy drama about an NHS worker who is forced to isolate with her sexist husband of 29 years as the country goes into lockdown. 

In 1942 during World War II, 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry - two-thirds of whom were American citizens - were unjustly incarcerated in concentration camps within the United States. Inspired by these events, and given how the rise of bigotry is rearing its ugly head in the world today, it’s most appropriate that a new American opera titled The Camp is making its world premiere in Los Angeles. I decided to speak with director Diana and The Camp’s associate director John Miyasaki about this world premiere opera and what inspired her to direct it, how she envisions staging it, and what messages they hope reach audiences.

To wrap up 2024, I decided to spend the New Year’s holiday with my favorite couple in Eureka Springs at the Melonlight Theater, enjoying their show Christmas with the Rosses. Throughout December, Emily and Raymond Ulibarri, along with their friends, performed a festive spin-off of their hit production I Haunt You. If you haven’t experienced this type of immersive theater before, you’re in for a treat. The intimate setting of the Melonlight Theater, combined with the Ulibarris' captivating storytelling and choreography, draws you into their world in a way that feels personal and magical. 

From February 13th to the 23rd, FEED THE BEAST will be performed at The Public's Helen Wayne Raul Theatre on 621 Penn Ave, produced and presented by New Horizon Theater.
