Review: THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL at Clayton Community Theatre
by Steve Callahan - Oct 23, 2025

Like last year's 'Twelfth Night' this production shows a sweet understanding of the play and how it works, a great love and respect for the text, and a delicious, economical theatricality to the whole thing.

Review: BLACK SABBATH - THE BALLET, Sadler's Wells
by Franco Milazzo - Oct 23, 2025

Despite the enticing cultural dissonance of its title, Black Sabbath – The Ballet is, by definition, a terrible idea. It is the conceptual equivalent of putting a tuxedo on a pit bull, or hiring Prince Andrew as your PR manager. This is what happens when the civic-minded folk at a major arts company, having dutifully listened to enough AC/DC to establish their street cred, decide they can bottle the anarchic essence of heavy metal and sell it in three-act bottles to those living off the ever-sweet smell of nostalgia and the kind of people who buy all their concert T-shirts from Vinted.

Review: THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW Shakes up the Squares at Pittsburgh CLO
by Greg Kerestan - Oct 17, 2025

After twenty years as a preeminent Rocky Horror town, the most radical thing you can do with a Pittsburgh Rocky is be traditional.

Review: & JULIET at Broadway San Diego
by ErinMarie Reiter - Oct 16, 2025

“& JULIET,” the pop-fueled musical now shaking up Broadway, San Diego is a jukebox joyride for anyone raised on TRL, Glee, and pure glittery empowerment.

Review: VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE at Cygnet Theatre
by ErinMarie Reiter - Oct 16, 2025

Christopher Durang’s “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” is a riotous blend of sibling rivalry, absurdist farce, and Chekhovian melancholy.  A laugh-out-loud farce with real heart, Director Anthony Methvin finds balance in the absurdity while still landing the emotional punches.

Interview: Adam Grant Morrison of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD at Ohio Theatre
by Paul Batterson - Oct 8, 2025

In HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, Albus Potter (Adam Grant Morrison) and Scorpius Malfoy (David Fine) use a Time-Turner to go back in time to try to prevent a tragedy from occurring. If Morrison could travel back to his first role, he might try to convince his younger self to stick with acting because it was going to take him to places he could never imagine. The show, which is the most expensive Broadway touring production at a cost of $23.5 million, will be performed from Oct. 12-26 at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State Street in downtown Columbus).

Review: BARBARINO’S BIG NITE OUT at Lips Is a Throwback to Old NYC Nightlife
by Andrew Poretz - Oct 8, 2025

BARBARINO’S BIG NIGHT OUT is one of those old-school shows you might have heard happened “back in the day” that always induces retroactive “FOMO.” The monthly show is a throwback to a wilder, crazier New York nightlife.

Review: THE COMEUPPANCE at Stray Cat Theatre
by Herbert Paine - Sep 29, 2025

With a running time of two hours plus Jacobs-Jenkins's uneven script may waver at times, yet to the company’s credit, and to director Seth Tucker, this Stray Cat Theatre production remains impossible to ignore.

Review: THE SOUND OF MUSIC at ARTS Theatre
by Barry Lenny - Sep 30, 2025

The hills are alive with the sound of music and the Arts Theatre is alive with The Sound of Music, in this most enjoyable production from the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Now, this is not the film. All your old familiar songs are there, but sometimes in a slightly different context. There’s a new duet for two of the supporting cast, and a lot more of the singing nuns.

Review: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN at Murry's Dinner Playhouse in Little Rock
by Theresa Bertram - Sep 22, 2025

Bring your appetite and your funny bone, because Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in Little Rock is serving up a suspenseful and hilarious treat with Catch Me If You Can by Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, directed by Roger M. Eaves and running through October 4. Not to be confused with the musical or the Spielberg film, this version is a mid-20th-century comedy-mystery adapted from Robert Thomas’s French play Trap for a Lonely Man. From start to finish, you will laugh and laugh at the witty banter, the quirky characters, and the absurd situations that pile up, all while the mystery keeps you on edge.

Interview: Steve Hackett of GENESIS GREATS, LAMB HIGHLIGHTS & SOLO WORKS” at Southern Theatre
by Paul Batterson - Sep 21, 2025

Perhaps no one is more surprised Steve Hackett is doing a retrospective on THE LAMB 50 years after the fact than the guitarist himself. THE LAMB was ranked in the top ten of Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 progressive rock albums of all time. The BBC called it a “conceptual masterpiece.” Hackett has another word for it: an anomaly.

Review: PURLIE VICTORIOUS at Main Street Theater
by Brett Cullum - Sep 20, 2025

PURLIE VICTORIOUS: A NON-CONFEDERATE ROMP THROUGH THE COTTON PATCH is certainly a curiosity, a satire of Jim Crow life written during the throes of the equal rights movement of the early sixties. I feel like it should seem more creaky, more antiquated, and backwards. Unfortunately for us, it is not.

Review: LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at Dr. Phillips Center For The Performing Arts
by Albert Gutierrez - Sep 20, 2025

Drag culture in La Cage aux Folles isn’t just the “bold face” of the gay community; it’s a celebration of visibility itself, a way of inviting even those on the periphery to understand more deeply what it means to live authentically, unbothered, and unashamed.
