The Santa Paula Theater Center presents its annual 'theater in the streets' fall event, GHOSTWALK 2019: Muerte Brothers Circus a?" The Greatest Show Not On Earth! at the old Fumigation Building located at 822 E. Santa Barbara St for 3 weekends from Oct. 11-27. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 pm until 9 pm and Sunday evenings from 6 pm until 8 pm. Performances take the form of walking tours that are an hour long and begin every 30 minutes. This year's tours are not wheelchair accessible. Centenary Stage Company's professional theatre series kicks off with Arnold Ridley's classic thriller The Ghost Train opening Friday, October 4 at 8:00 pm and running through October 20 in the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Like something bursting out of a?oeMidnight in the Garden of Good and Evila?? and blended well with real water, the stage was set and the mood was placed for an eerie and beautiful trip. Over the next enthralling 75 minutes two actors of supreme grandiose proportions took the audience on an unforgettable trip across the pond to Essex, and the opening night audience in mere sell out lingered on every word. Even a chill in the air lent itself to the spooky good time set before us. A true tour-de-force helmed exceptionally well by Director Timothy Saunders, two characters simply named a?oeMana?? and a?oeWomana?? took our breath away and left a chill down our spine that still resonates with me days later.

Composer, writer and actor Dave Malloy's work includes the Tony Award-winning Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, Octet, and his upcoming adaptation of Moby-Dick - the latter directed by regular collaborator Rachel Chavkin and starring Malloy. This year, London also sees two of his shows: Preludes, soon to conclude its run at Southwark Playhouse, and Ghost Quartet, which plays at the new Boulevard Theatre from 24 October.

As part of Japan Society's 2019-2020 Performing Arts Season, the Society proudly presents a dynamic performance of Japan's scariest ghost stories from Kwaidan, a collection of Japanese folktales by writer Lafcadio Hearn. In this one night only event, acclaimed actor Shiro Sano brings selections from Hearn's tales to life, accompanied by visuals as well powerful live music by distinguished guitarist Kyoji Yamamoto, sharing with audiences a glimpse of Hearn's open-minded view of Japan and the world. Commencing the live performance, folklorist Bon Koizumi, Hearn's great-grandson and Director of the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum in Matsue, Japan, will give a short lecture on the writer's relevance today. Roustabout Theatre Troupe has reached the end of their first full season, having put down stakes at the Ypsilanti Experimental Space for 2019. For their final offering, they'll be presenting Joseph Zettelmaier's Haunted: The Great Lakes Ghost Project. In 2017, Michigan playwright Joseph Zettelmaier began a journey across his home state. He set about to collect a wide variety of ghost stories, true otherworldly encounters by Michiganders from Milan to Marquette. From these stories came a devised theatrical piece, weaving tales of the supernatural with one person's journey to answer the question that has haunted so many of us throughout our livesa??Do you believe in ghosts?

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2019 - 2020 season with The Haunting of Hill House. The play is adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959. The story focuses on Dr. Montague (a paranormal researcher), an isolated and creepy old house with a bad reputation, a collection of his guests chosen for their susceptibility to the supernatural, a quirky relative of the mansion's owner and the strangely disquieting house staff.
