David Alan Grier has won the 2020 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for A SOLDIER'S PLAY.

BroadwayWorld is thrilled to announce the return of The Seth Concert Series this fall! Regular Sunday evening performances will resume beginning October 3rd at 8 PM - with a five star lineup now on sale.

Celebrating Broadway’s return, Seth’s Broadway Breakdown will premiere with a press preview on Sunday, September 12, with performances three times a week starting on October 15th. The show will be produced by Asylum NYC’s artistic director, Alan Kliffer.

The season will conclude in the summer of 2022 with a 50th Anniversary production of Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak’s musical GODSPELL, directed by the company’s newly appointed Managing and Casting Director Christopher Pazdernik and choreographed by Jeff award-winner Jenna Schoppe (She/Her).

Synchronicity Theatre has announced their appointment of the new staff and board. Dynamic arts administrator & educator Dawn Eskridge joins Synchronicity Theatre as the Donor & Patron Services Manager, while Taryn Carmona remains with the organization in a new, expanded position.

Stars in the House continues tonight (8pm ET) celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Seth’s “Dreamgirls” benefit concert which raised over $1 Million for The Actors Fund in September 2001.  The starry line-up for this special episode includes Lillias White, Audra McDonald, Heather Headley, Darius DeHaas, Tamara Tunie, and Brenda Braxton.  This is “One Night Only” that will be “Hard to Say Goodbye” to!

After over a year of programming, producers Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley's “Stars In The House” is nearing $1 Million raised to support The Actors Fund, whose COVID relief efforts have helped over 16,300 people in need in the performing arts community. 

Two major reunion shows will take place this week on “Stars In The House,” all to benefit The Actors Fund. On Friday, June 4, they will bring together the cast of the beloved Emmy Award-winning series “Kate & Allie”. On Saturday, June 5, Seth and James will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Seth’s “Dreamgirls” benefit concert.

This year's Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) presents Tony nominee Jenifer Lewis with its 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award at the 35th Annual MAC Awards. Additionally, James Wesley and Seth Rudetsky will be honored for their creation of Stars in the House.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that legendary Broadway company and general manager Gary Gunas passed away today in his London home after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that stage and screen actor Lawrence Clayton has died at age 64. The news was shared with BroadwayWorld by multiple friends and former castmates of Clayton's.

Jamie Foxx is set to produce and star in upcoming film The Burial, from Amazon Studios. Maggie Betts is on board to direct the screenplay which was written by Doug Wright.
