It’s calming and mellow, with brilliantly layered verses from Saba, a powerful hook shared by Ward and Ogi, lucious backing vocals from McFerrin, and a gently percussive beat that sounds like the memory of a summer’s day. Slow Joy, the solo project of Dallas based, New Mexican born Chicano artist Esteban Flores, releases his latest single, the urgent and anguished “King Cowboy”. The song looks at the consequences of existing in a capitalist society, including challenging economic realities and represents Flores’ foray into telling personal stories from the perspective of a character. A new version of Flatland Cavalry’s song, “Let It Roll,” is out now featuring special guest Randy Rogers. Of the song, written by the band’s lead singer Cleto Cordero and Randy Rogers, Cordero shares, “Growing up in Texas, we were inspired and influenced by endearing homegrown bands like Randy Rogers Band. Global country chart-topper MacKenzie Porter serves another taste of her 19-track Big Loud Records debut, Nobody's Born With A Broken Heart (out April 26), with “Have Your Beer,” out now. “I just couldn't wait till the 26th, so I'm dropping one more song for y'all,” Porter shares. “'Have Your Beer' is one of my favorites on the record and it's so much fun to play live. The Off-Broadway production of Cowboy, based on the life of Bass Reeves will return beginning next month. Reeves holds the distinction of being the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal and this will be the first true western play to hit a Broadway or Off-Broadway stage in over 80 years.
