The Tiger Lillies return to the Soho Theatre with a vicious and viscous re-imagining of the classic Brecht and Weill opera, thick with murderers, thieves and all manner of villainy.

TheatreC & Rhyme Combinator announced today the complete cast for CO-FOUNDERS, a new hip hop musical about the two most unlikely partners in Silicon Valley, that will have a one-night-only concert on Saturday, April 9th at 7:00pm at Joe’s Pub (425 Lafayette Street).

The Birdland Jazz Club and Theater has released their programming from March 28th through April 10th. Artists appearing at Birdland Jazz Club include Emmet’s Place: Emmet Cohen Trio Featuring Special Guests, Ed Neumeister’s Assembláge Jazz Orchestra, Ravi Coltrane Quartet, and John Minnock with Dave Liebman.

The Carole King Musical will return to the Paramount Theatre for three performances only – on Friday, April 8 (8pm) and Saturday, April 9 (2pm and 8pm). The two previously scheduled performances on Sunday, April 10 (1pm and 6:30 pm) have been cancelled due to the limited availability of transportation to ship the set to the tour’s next engagement.

Full confession: I was not jumping up and down to see another production of Cabaret. Chalk it up to Cabaret being the show that wouldn't die when I was in college - cast as a chorus member, it was a grueling rehearsal period and extended run, then we won American College Theater Festival for our region and had to come back early from winter break to recreate it, it literally went on for a good two thirds of my sophomore year. Some of the songs can give me PTSD. True fact.

With HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Johnson will remind audiences of his theatrical pedigree and style: edgy, innovative, controversial, and proud. The show is a shrewd piece to punctuate his timely comeback. A rock musical memoir by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask (directed by Shana Nunez), HEDWIG is the primal scream we need to take us out of a global nightmare. Ready or not, the electrifying musical will jolt people out of their Covid-induced stupor, courtesy of the rapturous genderqueer singer of a fictional rock and roll band.

Two years after its record-breaking grand opening and subsequent COVID enforced shut-down, AsiaSF/Palm Springs (www.asiasf.com), is back! The SoCal branch of the storied San Francisco dinner theatre and cabaret featuring the world-famous transgender Ladies of AsiaSFwelcomed back its first paying customers earlier this year. Now, they’re ready to officially announce their full return. The “Ribbon Cutting 2.0” will take place tomorrow – Wednesday, February 9 at 5pm – at 1555 South Palm Canyon Drive.  Palm Springs Mayor Lisa Middleton and representatives from The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce will officiate. Proof of full vaccination is required for all employees, guests and entertainers and masks are required for entry and when guests are not actively eating or drinking.

The North American tour will welcome Toledo native Sara Sheperd (Carole King), James D. Gish (Gerry Goffin), Sara King (Cynthia Weil), Ryan Farnsworth (Barry Mann), Matt Loehr (Don Kirshner), and Rachel Coloff (Genie Klein) to the company.

An extension to booking has been announced for the Olivier award-winning production of Mary Poppins with tickets now on sale until 10 July 2022 at the Prince Edward Theatre. 

Today’s subject Lisa Stephen Friday has a remarkable story to tell as she is currently living her theatre life as the writer and performer of Trans Am. The show begins performances at Keegan Theatre on January 29th and will run through February 26th.
