There is no doubt that Östgötateatern’s production of *Mrs. Doubtfire* will be loved just as much as the movie. Funny, heartwarming, and touching. A wonderful family musical. As the curtain falls, I have a happy tear in the corner of my eye and a big smile on my face.

On Sunday, August 9, LES MISÉRABLES: THE ARENA CONCERT SPECTACULAR closed out its two-year global tour in epic fashion at Radio City Music Hall. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Nick Grace Management, and presented locally by The Bowery Presents, the 22-performance engagement sold 117,000 tickets, drawing audiences from all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and across 58 different countries. The engagement capped off a global tour that welcomed over 1.3 million fans to the barricade across 34 cities internationally.

A new documentary chronicles ASCO, the Chicano art collective that challenged Hollywood and museum institutions in 1970s Los Angeles, executive produced by Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna.

One of the greatest joys of experiencing live theater comes from the ability to revisit a past show through a new lens. When shows are revived or a new company mounts their own production, this allows newer voices to put their stamp on timeless material. The hallmark of any timeless story is its ability to transform and adapt with the changing times. Part and parcel with this is a willingness to step out of one’s comfort zone in order to provide a new emotional truth to material that is both familiar and unknown.

Over the years, Broadway has seen a number of family acts sharing the stage. It’s extra special when family members team up to write a Broadway show together. The Great White Way has seen many instances of this historically, in a variety of different situations. While last week’s column focused on spouses penning shows together, this week is all about blood relatives partnering to write work.
