2017-18 Education Programming Announced at Portland Stage

Education is central to Portland Stage's Mission, and it creates vital education programs both In-Theater and In-Schools for families and students from pre-K through high school. Portland Stage's In-Theater Programs offer classes, workshops, and vacation and summer theater camps for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade in its storefront Theater for Kids space on Forest Avenue. In addition, Portland Stage offers In-School Education Programming, which is designed to grow with students as they progress through all grade levels. From the PLAY program to Student Matinees of our Mainstage productions- the Education Department offers comprehensive programming that connects to and reinforces Common Core Standards and Maine Learning Results. Portland Stage Teaching Artists encourage active participation and collaboration, with a focus on literacy, cultural awareness, and creative thinking all while having fun. (more...)

BALLETBOYZ present Four Premiere Dances

The International Emmy Award-winning, all-male dance company BalletBoyz are set to return to London's Sadler's Wells this autumn for the world premiere of their new show Fourteen Days before embarking on tour across the UK. The new work from the recent Rose d'Or winners has been created by four internationally celebrated choreographers, alongside four eminent and completely different composers, the new work comprises of four short pieces, and will run alongside their previously acclaimed Fallen. A coproduction with Sadler's Wells where BalletBoyz are an Associate Artist, and in association with artsdepot, Fourteen Days runs from 10th 14th October at Sadler's Wells with an Opening Night on Tuesday 10th October. Alliance Presents Twist on ALICE IN WONDERLAND for Middle Schoolers

Playwright Neeley Gossett (Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition finalist) and Actor/Playwright Steve Coulter (Edward Foote) have teamed up with Alliance Theatre Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families Rosemary Newcott to develop this year's new play for middle school audiences Alice Between. Alice Between will tour to Atlanta area middle schools for several weeks and will have five public performances in the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center, November 12 19, 2017. Sol Children Theatre Presents ALICE IN WONDERLAND - 8/10 - 20

Sol Theatre will play host to The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, Tweedledum, Tweedledee, and of course The White Rabbit, when Sol Children Theatre presents Seth Trucks' adaptation of Lewis Carroll's magical classic, Alice in Wonderland.  The production will open on August 10th, and run through August 20th at the popular Boca Raton venue.  Alice and her friends will then move to the Delray Beach Children's Garden for three special sunset performances on August 24th, 25th, and 26th.  (more...)

Rose Theatre Kingston announces its Christmas show, Alice in Winterland, based on Lewis Carroll's timeless books Alice Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Following the success of last year's enchanting adaptation of The Wind in the Willows and 2015's festive hit A Christmas Carol, Ciaran McConville returns to direct a cast of local young actors from the Rose Youth Theatre led by a team of professional actors including Daniel Goode (Father/Mad Hatter), Amanda Gordon (Cheshire Cat/Mother), Jonathan Andrew Hume (Blue Caterpillar/Knave), Tony Timberlake (White Knight/Isumbras) and Susannah van den Berg (Aunt Margaret/Queen of Hearts). HERE proudly announces its 2017-2018 producing season, marking the 25th Anniversary of this award-winning, boundary-stretching institution.  The 2017-2018 HERE lineup features three HERE Resident Artist world premieres; the world premiere of a HERE Artistic Director production by Kristin Marting; innovative works from the Dream Music Puppetry Program including a revival of Symphonie Fantastique by Basil Twist, internationally acclaimed artist and Artistic Director of HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program; the sixth annual PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now festival, and HERE's yearly CULTUREMART festival, where HERE serves up a first look at new work in process from artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP).  The multidisciplinary productions in HERE's milestone 2017-2018 season represent the culmination of commissions and developmental residencies of up to three years in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP) and/or the Dream Music Puppetry Program.   (more...)
