The 24th Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR Competition, the culminating celebration of six weeks of fundraising by 51 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies, raised $3,902,608 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

William Inge's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Picnic returns to Broadway in a striking new production helmed by acclaimed director Sam Gold (Roundabout's Look Back in Anger, Seminar). Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn stars alongside theatre veterans Reed Birney (The Dream of the Burning Boy) and Elizabeth Marvel (Other Desert Cities), rising stars Maggie Grace ('Lost') and Sebastian Stan ('Gossip Girl'), Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham (recently seen in Tribes), Madeleine Martin (August: Osage County) and Ben Rappaport (Hope Springs). Capolavori Productions, Inc. will present the World Premiere of THE RED AND THE BLACK written and directed by Deloss Brown. The play is based on Stendhal's 1830 classic novel, Le Rouge et le Noir. Playwrights Horizons presents the World Premiere of The Great God Pan, a new play by Obie Award winner Amy Herzog (After the Revolution at PH, 4000 Miles). Directed by Carolyn Cantor (After the Revolution and Essential Self-Defense at PH, Pumpgirl, Orange Water Flower), the production is currently in previews and has an Opening Night set for Tuesday, December 18 at 7PM. LAUGHistan has announced the world premiere production of Samrat Chakrabarti and Sanjiv Jhaveri's BUMBUG The Musical, directed by Mercedes Murphy. BUMBUG The Musical will play a limited engagement at The Clurman Theatre (Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street). Performances begin today, December 5 and continue through Saturday, December 22.

The New 42nd Street Gala, in celebration of the New Victory Education Programs, will honor the Australia Council for the Arts with the New Victory Arts Award tonight, December 5, 2012. The annual event will feature a special performance by the Melbourne-based Australian troupe Circus Oz at The New Victory Theater, followed by a dinner reception at The Liberty Theater.

The puritanical killjoy of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night finally has his say in I, Malvolio, a one-man deconstruction of one of classic literature's most misunderstood characters. By British scribe Tim Crouch, I, Malvolio, presented by The New Victory Theater, is a hilarious, charged and often unsettling rant from a complex man full of pride, passion, rage and humiliation. I, Malvolio will run at The Duke on 42nd Street, 229 West 42nd Street, from January 11 through January 20, 2013.

Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, makes a splash with the effervescent musical comedy SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, opening November 30 and running through January 13, 2013. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN features one of the largest all-star casts ever assembled on the Drury Lane stage, led by Tony Yazbeck.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, "Big Love"). 'Inside The Lion King,' the first immersive, pop-up exhibit ever created for a Broadway show, arrives adjacent to Bryant Park, on 42nd Street and Avenue of the Americas, for a limited time to celebrate 15 years of The Lion King in New York City. More than 65 million people have experienced The Lion King, but never before like this. In this free exhibit, fans of all ages will experience and interact with 86 museum-quality artifacts including hand-made puppets, sculpted masks, elaborate artisan costumes and extraordinary sets that have appeared in productions from around the world. Tonight, December 3rd, 2012 at 7pm, Anthony Rapp (RENT) and Austin Peck (One Life to Live) will lead a staged reading of 'Deleted Scenes' at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, 416 W 42nd Street. The reading marks the launch of Believe Limited's theatrical division. Believe Limited's founder, Ryan Gielen will direct the theatrical adaptation of his award winning film. The evening is presented in partnership with James Kautz (The Amoralists, Artistic Director) and 57th & Irving Productions.

The Off Broadway Musical Giant will perform in Cabaret Cares tonight, December 3rd at 7:00 PM. Cabaret Cares is the the monthly fundraising event for Help Is On The Way Today. Help Is On The Way Today was founded by Cabaret Producer Joseph Macchia and is a non for profit that helps children and teens living with HIV and AIDS In New York City living with HIV and AIDS. Since its start 7 years ago Cabaret Cares had raised over $74,000. The series was also honored with Three MAC Awards and a Bistro Award.

Former Chicago Jersey Boys cast member John Michael Coppola has announced the release of his new digital recording, Billy Joel's New York State Of Mind. Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark has announced the Foxwoods Theatre as a New York Cares Coat Drive public collection site. From November 15 - December 31, 2012 patrons can drop off coats outside the box office at 213 West 42nd Street between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and during show hours on performance days.

Broadway performer Janet Hubert, best known as the outspoken notorious Viv Banks, the original mom from the hit 90's sitcom THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR, returns to New York with FROM BROADWAY TO TV, NOW BACK TO ME. PiPE DREAM THEATRE has announced the world premiere production of Liz Muller and Collin Simon's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE MOUSE KING, directed by Liz Muller. The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation has announced the NY premiere of the critically-acclaimed production of MIDSUMMER [A PLAY WITH SONGS], written and directed by David Greig, with songs by Gordon McIntyre, from the Traverse Theatre in Scotland. MIDSUMMER comes to NY as the 2012 co-winner of the Best of Edinburgh Award given annually by the Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation.

On Monday, November 19, the membership of the Audience Development Corporation honored the Castillo Theatre with wins in all five of the categories in which it was nominated for the Vivian Robinson AUDELCO Recognition Awards for Excellence in Black Theatre (aka the Viv Awards) for its production of Sally and Tom (The American Way) by Fred Newman and Annie Roboff, directed by Gabrielle L. The musical looks at the relationship between Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, his slave and mistress for 30 years, exploring the tragic contradiction at the heart of American history and culture.
