Civic Theatre of Allentown Hosts Zeke Zelker Audition Bootcamp 11/12-14

Civic Theatre of Allentown and filmmaker Zeke Zelker are working together to produce Zeke Zelker's Audition Boot Camp. This one-weekend event, for high school students and older, will be held from November 12th through 14th at Civic. Participants will walk away with a genuine knowledge of the process, preparation and tools to audition successfully. The registration fee is $350, which includes the cost of the headshot disc and the styling and make-up for the photos that participants will have taken. On Friday, November 12th, from 7-9pm, actors should come prepared with a monologue to audition, sides (scenes) will be provided and some improvisational situations will be explored. Beginning at 9am on Saturday the13th reviews and critiques of the previous night's auditions will be given. From 11am to 1pm, audition technique will be taught, followed by skills such as resume building, advice on where to find auditions, the skinny on the industry, capped off by a review of the day. On Sunday, actors will be given an individual time slot to have headshots taken. A stylist and make-up artist will be on hand and every actor will receive a disk of six edited high-res images free of charge, to print at their convenience.

"We will NOT be gentle," says Zelker, "this boot camp's sole purpose is to get aspiring actors ready for the unforgiving world of auditioning." Zelker is a writer/director/producer who has auditioned thousands of actors across the country for his various feature film, TV and web based projects. He has worked with Oscar, Emmy and Tony award nominated actors and is about to embark on a number of projects in the coming year. In teaming up with Civic, Zelker hopes to make this program a hands-on, active learning experience for all those involved.
