The John W. Engeman Theater is currently presenting WEST SIDE STORY, running through November 8, 2015. From the first notes to the final breath, WEST SIDE STORY is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. The well-known and beloved score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim is widely regarded as one of the best ever written. On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland joined the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN on Tuesday, Augst 25th in the role of 'Ivy'. Copeland will be performing through September 6. The Huffington Post just unveiled a behind-the-scenes profile of her journey from rehearsals to opening night on Broadway, featuring interviews with Misty and her co-star Tony Yazbeck. Beginning last night, August 25, American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland made her Broadway debut as 'Ivy Smith' in the Tony Award nominated revival of On The Town, continuing in the role through the end of the musical's run on September 6. 

In honor of Gene Kelly's 103rd Birthday, ON THE TOWN cast members Eloise Kropp and Cory Lingner have recreated the song and dance number 'Main Street' from the film version of ON THE TOWN. Check out the performance below!

Ah, the togetherness! And the amazing dancing! HAMILTON ensemble member Jon Rua choreographed a reimagined version of the famed gym scene from WEST SIDE STORY, in which the Sharks and the Jets dance together instead of fighting. The whole dance is set to Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams' “Blurred Lines”. Check it out below!

Happy Birthday, Mary Testa! Testa is a two-time Tony Award nominee, for performances in revivals of Leonard Bernstein's On the Town (1998) and 42nd Street (2001). She made her debut as Miss Goldberg in William Finn's one-act musical In Trousers (1979), part one of his 'Marvin Trilogy,' winning audiences over with her rendition of 'Set Those Sails' and 'I Am Wearing a Hat,' as well as 'The Rape of Miss Goldberg by Marvin.' She returned to Broadway in July, 2007 in the musical-theater remake of the 1980 film Xanadu for which she received a Drama Desk Award nomination.

Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer and Managing Director Maggie Boland announce the full lineup for Signature Theatre's 2015/16 season. “Signature's 26th season continues our commitment to presenting new works and reinventing great American musicals. Today in 1980, the first Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY opened at the Minskoff Theatre, where it ran for 333 performances. West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Set in New York City in the mid-1950s, the musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Bernstein's score for the musical has become extremely popular; it includes 'Something's Coming', 'Maria', 'America', 'Somewhere', 'Tonight', 'Jet Song', 'I Feel Pretty', 'A Boy Like That', 'One Hand, One Heart', 'Gee, Officer Krupke' and 'Cool'.

Anita Darian, a soprano whose four-octave voice earned her the nickname “The Armenian Yma Sumac” and spawned an eclectic 50-year career that ranged from performances with the New York City Opera, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic to big-band jazz concerts, co-starring roles with Barbara Cook, and hit pop recordings that included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is dead at 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, L.I., she died Sunday, Feb. 1 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside of complications from surgery.

On September 19, 2014, some of the biggest stars on Broadway were invited to perform at a benefit concert for the Amigos de Jesus Orphanage (http://www.amigosdejesus.org/) and the children of Honduras.
