After producing Americano! – based on the life of a DREAMer – last year with The Phoenix Theatre Company, Arizona-based Quixote Productions, Jason Rose producer, announced today an ambitious slate of upcoming new musicals, all with commercial aspirations, scheduled to debut over the next several years, created by artists from around the world.

New City Music Theatre will welcome celebrated singer and Tony nominee Liz Callaway to the cast of their one-night only production of Songs for a New World. Callaway joins a host of Broadway and rising stars for the exclusive event at Radial Park at Halletts Point in Astoria, Queens on Thursday, August 26 at 7:30pm.

Last seen in the title role of Aladdin, Telly Leung (he/him) lends his talents to “The World Was Dancing” for the evening. Another Aladdin alum, Michael James Scott (he/him) will take on the soaring, penultimate number “Flying Home” before returning to the New Amsterdam this fall. Following her recent turn in the Broadway company of Wicked, Tony nominee Nancy Opel (she/her) will show off her comedic chops in “Just One Step,” while Bre Jackson (The Color Purple, The Book of Mormon; she/her) gives voice to “The Flagmaker, 1775.”

Hosts Elliott Masie and Telly Leung invite you and your colleagues to a special Empathy Concert on Monday, August 9th from 4 pm to 5 pm EDT. The focus of this high-energy and engaging concert will be on 'Moving Forward!' As we move through the changing phases of the pandemic, we are all facing challenges!

Open to the public, this re-imagined programming in a COVID-responsible environment will bring headliners in solo performances as well as feature our Cabaret Fellows selected from across the country and Junior Fellows in singular evenings of entertainment.

The cast includes Michael K. Lee as Jesus Christ, Ramin Karimloo as Judas Iscariot, Celinde Schoenmaker as Mary Magdalene, Masaaki Fujioka as King Herod, Hironobu Miyahara(LE VELVETS) as Caiaphas, Telly Leung as Peter, Robert Marien as Pontius Pilate, Hayato Kakizawa as Simon Zealotes, and Aaron Walpole as Annas.

The production will be released in association with Broadway Podcast Network, streaming in three unique episodes beginning July 30th.
