In 2017, I was fortunate enough to have attended the Tony Awards. Rachel Bay Jones was among the winners that night for her performance as Heidi in Dear Evan Hansen. On July 7th, I saw her perform in person for the very first time.

For the third year in a row, A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas will close out the season in style and whimsy. This production features beloved holiday songs, spectacular dance numbers, sublime vocals, and hilarious sketches. Running November 29th - December 30th, A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas, guarantees wholesome and jovial entertainment with classics such as “Ave Maria”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, and “Sleigh Ride”.

Flat Rock Playhouse welcomes Fall and all its seasonal delights with The Turn of the Screw, an adaptation of the classic 1898 horror novella by Henry James.

Take a break from the frenzy of everyday life and enjoy Smoke on the Mountain, a wholesome celebration of faith, community, and Appalachian Music. Set in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina around 1938, Smoke on the Mountain brings to life a small-town musical revival featuring the traveling Sanders Family as they play the best of bluegrass, gospel, and hymns. Audiences will recognize beloved songs such as “Rock of Ages”, “The Church in the Wildwood”, “A Wonderful Time Up There,” and more as they are performed by talented actor-musicians. Running October 4th - 19th, Smoke on the Mountain, showcases the power of music to bring us all together and will have audiences singing along.

Flat Rock Playhouse rounds out its 2019 Season with a rich yet bare-bones comedy, Rounding Third, starring FRP favorites Scott Treadway and JP Sarro. This good-humored story is about an entrenched Little League Head Coach meeting his new rookie Assistant Coach as they take their new team - humorously played by the audience - from the draft to the championship game.
