JJ Niemann Will Lead Flat Rock Playhouse's FOOTLOOSE This Summer

Flat Rock Playhouse will present the stage adaptation of the 1984 film FOOTLOOSE from June 12 through July 5.

Set in the town of Bomont, Texas, the musical follows Ren McCormack, played by JJ Niemann, a newcomer in a small town who challenges the local preacher, who has instituted a ban on dancing. The production features songs that became popular through the original film, including “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let's Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” and the title song “Footloose.”

“Footloose will be the musical jolt of energy you've been waiting for all year. Whether you know it from the movie, the chart-topping soundtrack, or that one wedding reception line dance you can never escape, Footloose is a story that lives in your bones. At its heart, it's about a community finding its way back to itself — through music, through joy, and especially through dance. That's exactly what I hope our production brings you.” - Director Ethan Andersen

Featuring a cast featuring JJ Niemann (Hamilton, Back to the Future: The Musical, The Book of Mormon), Jared Goldsmith (Dear Evan Hansen), and Nicole Powell (Ragtime, Hairspray) will lead Flat Rock Playhouse's production of Footloose this summer. They will be joined by Saige Smith as Ariel Moore and Scott Treadway as Rev. Shaw Moore. Also featured are Lucy Werner (Rusty), Kaitlyn Smith (Urleen), Maya J. Christian (Wendy Jo), Kathleen Watson (Ethel McCormack), and Edward Michael Escamilla (Chuck Cranston).

The ensemble will include Hunter Brown, Maddie Franke, Brianna Haston, Jeff Ronan, Galloway Stevens, Amanda Tong, Lindsay Andrews, Isaiah Byrd, Sean Crothers, Mischel Johnson, Anya Jones, Noah Macam, Angelina Mancuso, and Gabe Tobierre. The production will run June 12–July 5 at the Flat Rock Playhouse Leiman Mainstage. Directed by Ethan Andersen, with choreography by Candi Boyd, musical direction by Nathan Trivers, and casting by Dale Brown, CSA and Andrea Zee.
