Marilyn Maye rang in the 2023 New Year's with a weekend of Holiday shows in the Birdland Theater just down the street from Times Square. As the ball dropped, the toasts went up and the songs poured out. With 4 nights of shows, from Dec 29th to Jan 1st (7 shows in all), she provided a proper musical CHEERS to the NYC audience. Amazing Maye!

For three nights the Mabel Mercer Foundation presented their picks of artists for the 2022 Cabaret Convention at Rose Theater at Jazz At Lincoln Center.

Usually on the stage in the solos spot, Seth Sikes and Nicolas King are trying their hands at a duo show and they are bringing all their brassy, belty boy best to the stage.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater are proudly open this June with a full slate of nightly performances! At Birdland Jazz Club, catch the Liebman, Brecker, Copland Quintet, Greg Ruvolo Big Band, Yellowjackets, Terraza Big Band, Anita Gillette and Lee Roy Reams, Frank Catalano Quartet, Danilo Perez & His Global Messengers, New London Big Band, Stacey Kent, Ron Aprea Big Band, Linda Lavin and Tuck & Patti.

Featuring GRAMMY-winning pianist Bill Charlap, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Kenny Washington, the Bill Charlap Trio was formed nearly 25 years ago in 1997 and earned GRAMMY nominations for Uptown Downtown (Impulse!/Verve), Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein, and The Bill Charlap Trio: Live at the Village Vanguard (both on the Blue Note label).

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater have announced its upcoming jazz programming, running November 1 - November 14. 

Broadway World Cabaret's resident photojournalist Helane Blumfield was on hand to document the return to live performing of the cabaret convention.

THE MELODY LINGERS ON: A GALA TRIBUTE TO THE SONGS OF IRVING BERLIN was a gathering of some of the biggest names in the cabaret world. There’s something a little odd about celebrating the intimate art of cabaret in a Broadway-sized theatre like Rose Hall, but to be honest it was one of the few venues sizable enough to hold all the cabaret fans who came to see this fine collection of talented artists. There were performances from Sandy Stewart, Jeff Harner, Andrea Marcovicci, Eric Yves Garcia, Karen Oberlin, David LaMarr, Natalie Douglas, Stacy Sullivan & Todd Murray, Karen Akers, Steve Ross, Amra-Faye Wright, Klea Blackhurst, Billy Stritch, Aisha de Haas, Christine Andreas, Sidney Myer, Karen Mason, Nicolas King, Mark Nadler, and the Moipai Triplets. In addition to these wonderful performers, we were treated to some of NYC’s best musicians including Ray Marchicka, Steve Doyle, Jon Weber, Bill Charlap, Darnell White, Alex Rybeck, Mark Hummel, Michael Rice, and Tracy Stark.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation, led by KT Sullivan shows resilience as it evolves with the changing times and pandemic needs, presenting streaming and live performances for the 2021 Cabaret Convention.

On December 31 at 7 pm ET, 92Y will ring in 2021 with the streaming premiere An 80th Birthday Celebration of Songwriter Mike Stoller, a Lyrics & Lyricists Special Event from 2013. This magical concert will be released for the first time and available for free to audiences beyond the 900 people who packed the concert hall that night. 

Additional performers join singer/musical director and sheet music archivist Michael Lavine this Saturday, October 10th at 12 Noon ET.
