The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) is excited to host a Matilda-themed Dance Master Class with original Broadway cast member Clay Thomson on Thursday, August 29 at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts at 38 Main Street in Franklin, MA. Thomson will be returning to Franklin in the fall to choreograph FPAC's production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical.

Aspire Performing Arts Company (PAC) is pleased to announce that it recently received 12 awards and an additional 26 nominations from National Youth Arts (NYA).

The Herberger Theater Center is the stage for Valley Youth Theatre's (VYT) annual fundraising event, VYTal Affair, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, beginning at 5:30pm. VYTal is the acronym for Valley Youth Theatre Applauds Leadership, and gives the nonprofit theatre company an opportunity to recognize those who help Phoenix children be the best they can be, while showcasing what VYT contributes to the performing art community. The Herberger Theater Center is located at 222 East Monroe, in Downtown Phoenix.

Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical a?" with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and book by Dennis Kelly a?" plays the historic Franklin Theatre through August 11, with a rollicking production helmed by Sondra Morton, featuring musical direction by Jamey Green and choreography by Everett Tarlton, who score yet another massive hit for the Franklin-based AT Pro (the professional theater arm of Act Too Players, the training program for younger actors that has proven time and again to be an important part of the Middle Tennessee theater community), featuring an all-star cast led by Thomas DeMarcus in the role of the manipulative former British hammer-throwing champion who has turned her attention to running a school for children, variously referred to as a?oenaughtya?? and a?oerevoltinga?? by their headmistress.

Finding solace in books and telling stories, Matilda is faced with an even bigger threat when she comes face to face with the wrenched Agatha Trenchbull. Upper Darby Summer Stage adds an additional show date to the 44th season finale, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, JR. on August 13 at 10:30 am. Audience members are encouraged to grab their golden tickets to the show that now runs for a total of five performances on August 13, 14, 15 and 16 at 10:30 am and on August 15 at 7:30 pm. 

Roanoke Children's Theatre announced today that Brett J. Roden will become the Producing Artistic Director for the Company beginning with the upcoming 2019-2020 Season. After 11 successful seasons serving as Artistic Director, founder Pat Wilhelms will transition to become the Company's Resident Stage Director. Wilhelms, who hand selected Roden to be her successor, will continue to maintain a creative role within RCT, directing all mainstage productions. 

If you're like me, Dear Readers, you grew up with that indelible classic film, a?oeWilly Wonka and the Chocolate Factorya?? starring the amazing Gene Wilder (and hopefully not that abomination with Johnny Depp). Or maybe you found yourself getting lost in the pages of the Roald Dahl novel, a?oeCharlie and the Chocolate Factorya??. Whichever it is you probably found yourself longing for an Everlasting Gobstopper, or wanting to meet an Oompa Loompa, or terrified of that nightmare infused boat ride in the original film. Whichever version you preferred, rest assured there's something for everyone in the current musical incarnation, bearing the same name as the novel, currently on tour and at the Paramount Theatre. There are a few sound issues, and they've taken a few liberties with the characters to punch it up to modern day, but the whimsy and yearning for a?oePure Imaginationa?? is still quite present.

Valley Youth Theatre (VYT) opens its 31st season with Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, August 9, on Center Stage at The Herberger Theater Center, marking the first time this smash Broadway musical has been produced by an Arizona-based theatre company.
