Full Cast Set for ATLANTIS at Theatr Clwyd and Chichester’s Minerva Theatre
Performances run 6 June to 4 July 2026.
Full casting has been announced for Atlantis, a powerful new play by Emily White, co-produced by Theatr Clwyd and Chichester Festival Theatre, opening to press at Theatr Clwyd, before transferring to Chichester's Minerva Theatre (where it runs from 18 July to 15 August with a further press night).
Set in a Welsh coastal community on the frontline of the climate crisis, Atlantis is an epic and intimate story of family, community and resistance, as rising sea levels threaten to erase not only homes, but the lives built around them.
As Bryn fights to save his home from the encroaching sea, his town's inhabitants are told they will become Britain's first climate refugees. Gwen and her grandchildren take to the streets to demand change — their activism testing the bonds between generations.
Winner of the George Devine Award, Atlantis spans decades, following one family's response to an unfolding environmental crisis, asking what we hold onto, what we sacrifice, and what it means to belong to a place that may not survive us.
The cast will include Catrin Aaron (Claire), Richard Elfyn (Bryn), Alfie Llewellyn (Phillip), Eirlys Lovell-Jones (Rhiannon), Sara Otung (Astrid) and Vivien Parry (Gwen).
They are joined by Albie Chamberlain, Cole Davies Hughes, Florence Edwards, Emily Hughes, Etta McGee and Gwennan Smith at Theatr Clwyd and Hector Arnold, Rex Bamber, Lyra Brunton, Iris Dempsey, Benjamin Miglioli and Ivy Quoi at the Minerva Theatre.
Inspired by real communities facing displacement due to rising sea levels, the play explores the climate emergency through a deeply human lens. As Emily White explains, the story grew from the reality of coastal towns in Wales at risk of being lost: “This play is about a family and what is at stake for them… it is a human story as much as it is a climate story.”
Directed by Guy Jones, the production brings together a creative team including designer Frankie Bradshaw, lighting designer Joshua Pharo, composer and sound designer Holly Khan, movement director Jess Williams, musical director Jennifer Pearson, and casting director Sophie Parrott CDG, with children's casting by Keston and Keston.
The running time is approx 120 minutes plus one 20-minute interval.
