This November, stars of stage and screen, playwrights, composers, and supporters of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will gather for And the Tony Award Goes Toa??Celebrating TheatreWorks at 50, a once-in-a-lifetime event honoring the acclaimed theatre company's 50th anniversary and its 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award. Established in Palo Alto in 1970, TheatreWorks has grown into one of the largest theatre companies in California, and one of the nation's leading presenters of new works. And the Tony Award Goes Toa??Celebrating TheatreWorks at 50 will take place Saturday, November 2 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro Street, Mountain View (preceded by a gala dinner at Mountain View's The Computer History Museum). 

This fall, Goodman Theatre presents its New Stages Festivala?"a free annual celebration and discovery of new plays by some of the country's finest established and emerging playwrights, now in its 16th year. Audiences experience a first look at seven new worksa?"including two fully staged developmental productions (performed in repertory) Incendiary by Dave Harris and In the Sick Bay of the Santa Maria by Rajiv Joseph.

Single Carrot Theatre kicks off Season 12 with Rajiv Joseph's powerful play Mr. Wolf, which opens on Friday, September 13. The cast brings together multiple new faces to Single Carrot from the Baltimore theatre community, as well as reunites a creative team from past seasons.

The National Arts Club (NAC) has selected Inda Craig-Galván as the recipient of the 2019 Kesselring Prize for playwriting. Since 1980, the $25,000 award has been presented to an outstanding playwright deserving of national recognition.

Minnesota Nice is often something we hear about when we talk about neighbors and coworkers, but these productions really showed me how this nice attitude can carry on in the theatre. The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced that the 12th-Annual a?oeMimia?? Awards will be presented on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Lincoln Center Theater. The a?oeMimia?? Awards are presented annually to honor the outstanding artistry and accomplishments of some of the most gifted American playwrights.

Second Stage Theater is currently presenting the New York premiere of Make Believe. Written by Bess Wohl and directed by Michael Greif, Make Believe will feature Kim Fischer, Susannah Flood, Ryan Foust, Harrison Fox, Maren Heary, Casey Hilton, Brad Heberlee, and Samantha Mathis.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??The Lark, a theater company devoted to the support of extraordinary playwrights and the development of new plays, is thrilled to announce that Sam Chanse, J. Julian Christopher, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, C.A. Johnson, and Abe Koogler have been selected as the 2019-20 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellows. This year marks the 20th iteration of the Workshop, which was established by renowned playwright Arthur Kopit, and brings together emerging and established playwrights in a space where they are free to explore new material, without commercial pressures.

Matthew Ethan Davis, who kept them laughing a month ago with Sleep At Your Own Risk, now scares us with Faster Than Shadows, directed by Ivette Dumeng and featuring Meghan E. Jones, Alfredo Diaz and Bryan James Hamilton; with lighting by Gilbert Pearto and sound by Bryan James Hamilton.

As part of its ongoing dedication to community engagement and producing thought-provoking new work, Single Carrot Theatre is launching its 12thseason with three site-specific productions staged at venues throughout Baltimore. New York Stage and Film has announced the mentors and artists for its 201920 Filmmakers' Workshop. Mentors include Luis Castro (The Pop Culture Collaborative), writerproducer Bash Doran ("Traitors," "Boardwalk Empire"),  Jessica Goldberg ("The Path", "Parenthood"), William Goldberg (Abominable, Infinitely Polar Bear),  Rajiv Joseph (Draft Day, "Nurse Jackie"), Toni Kalem (A Slipping Down Life), Max Mayer (Adam, As Cool As I Am), Shelby Stone ("The Chi", Bessie), and Amy Robinson (After Hours, Julie & Julia).

The 2ND ANNUAL ITHACA ONE-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL (#1MPF) returns to Ithaca for its second year, in partnership with the Kitchen Theatre Company. The 2nd Annual Ithaca One-Minute Play Festival runs for three performances only; July 13th at 8pm, and July 14th at 3pm & 7pm. All performances are at the Kitchen Theatre (417 W StateMLK, Jr. St). Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2019 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to revise and refine their shows during the festival, allowing audiences to view the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of theatre. The popular festival runs August 9 - 18, 2019 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto. NYU Tisch School of the Arts has partnered with New Dramatists, one of the country's leading playwright centers and a nationally recognized new play laboratory, to develop new theatre works that will premiere in the Graduate Acting program's annual season of plays.

On Sunday night at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley received the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The honor is accompanied by a grant of $25,000, made possible by City National Bank's generous support of the Creative Arts Awards. Watch the theatre accept the Tony Award.
