Ballet Hispánico, the nation's renowned Latinx dance organization recognized last year as one of America's Cultural Treasures, announces the appointment of Linda Celeste Sims as its new Rehearsal Director. Sims returns to the Company after beginning her dance journey as a student and Company dancer at Ballet Hispánico. She steps into the new role following a 24-year accomplished career at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in addition to recent remote teaching positions at Marymount College, Ailey Extension, as well as Ballet Hispánico.

Ailey Extension has kicked off National Physical Fitness Month with an invitation for people around the world to have fun being fit and fabulous during in an array of virtual classes and special workshops. 

The Ailey organization is furthering the pioneering vision of its founder by “bringing dance back to the people” and lifting spirits through Ailey All Access, a series of online offerings including streaming of free performance broadcasts, Ailey Extension dance and fitness classes, and more.

After enduring a mandatory year-long studio closure due to the pandemic, the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center will reopen its doors on April 5, 2021 in preparation for its highly-anticipated Heart of Brooklyn Spring Dance Series. 

Ailey Extension is dancing into Spring with fresh new weekend workshops that introduce adults, children, and teens to new dance techniques. On Saturday, March 20, adult students are invited to mark the first day of Spring in three unique workshops.

Ballet Hispánico is continuing its B Unidos Facebook Watch Party Series celebrating 50th Anniversary archival performance treasures with Caravanserai on February 24, 2021 at 6:30pm. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s holiday virtual season Ailey Forward celebrating six decades of Revelations will launch on Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30pm ET with a “Revelations Reimagined”  Opening Night Virtual Benefit.

In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's first-ever virtual season (December 2-31, 2020), Ailey Extension is inviting dancers of all experience levels the chance to learn Ailey choreography from former Company members. Novice and experienced dancers alike are welcome to join virtual workshops to learn excerpts from Alvin Ailey's most celebrated works including Night Creature and Revelations. These workshops allow dancers to be part of a historic global experience as they come together with Ailey fans from around the world to revel in the global impact of Ailey's works and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the timeless American masterpiece Revelations.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will further a cherished legacy of uplifting and uniting audiences across the globe with a free virtual engagement celebrating six decades of Revelations. Extending from December 2 - 31, 2020, the season will feature a variety of special programs each available online for a one-week period and open to all.

Ailey Extension is celebrating National Dance Day this Saturday, September 19 with a full day of virtual classes and workshops to bring out the inner dancer in people from various ages, experience levels and abilities.

Ailey Extension invites people around the globe to fall into dance with a variety of classes, special workshops and a kids & teens series starting in September.  Students of diverse ages, backgrounds and levels are welcome to enjoy learning dance moves and enhancing fitness under the instruction of New York City's top dance professionals with a cornucopia of virtual offerings.

Celebrating 35 years of fusing the beauty of traditional African movement with contemporary choreography, The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) welcomes the return of Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE. With a mixed bill of company classics and a newly-commissioned work, the Brooklyn company will play The Joyce Theater from February 25-March 1.
