Fantasia Barrino and ​​​​​​​Danielle Brooks have joined the upcoming film adaptation of The Color Purple musical as Celie and Sofia, respectively.

Bryant Park Picnic Performances' season of free, live performances continued on Friday, September 10 at 7pm with Classical Theatre of Harlem, featuring excerpts from two enthralling productions, A Harlem Dream and Langston In Harlem.

Broadway Records announced today the release of the Grammy Award-nominated 2018 recording of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND as a double record set printed on orange vinyl. This vinyl set includes a special album insert with photos from the Broadway production and full billing, plus a gatefold cover, complete with show artwork, track list and more.

Today we rewind to 2017, when Once On This Island was getting ready to return to Broadway. Once On This Island opened on December 3 at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it played for 457 performances.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of performances throughout the city, around the country and around the world, Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) is partnering with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture for "In Perpetual Flight: The Migration of the Black Body" at the Schomburg Center. The 6:30 p.m. event on Tuesday, April 16, is part of Carnegie Hall's Migrations: The Making of America, a citywide festival featuring events about the journeys of people who have shaped and influenced American culture.
