Black Theatre United (BTU) just announced the BTU Collective, a new wave of leadership within the organization. The BTU Collective is a dynamic collective of leaders, artists, and advocates committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the theater industry.

There are galas and there are galas and, then, there was what Black Theatre United pulled off last night, September 30th, celebrating GENERATIONS OF EXCELLENCE at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. From the moment you walked in to the moment you left, the love, respect, admiration and warmth throughout the evening was palpable.

Last night at the Entertainment Community Fund, (formerly The Actors Fund) gala, they announced the $160 million ESSENTIAL Campaign: a bold and comprehensive effort that will combine all of the organization’s fundraising, allowing the Fund to serve more people in more places.

Birdland was packed to the brim Monday night for Jamie deRoy and Friends, a variety night benefitting The Entertainment Community Fund.

The Theatre World Awards were presented Monday night, June 5.  Julie Benko received the 14th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater, and 2023 TWA Special Award Honorees, Marilyn Caserta for Outstanding Swing and Dale Badway for Outstanding Contribution to the Theatre World.  Check out photos here!

Sunday night was a very special occasion here at BroadwayWorld. The best of Broadway gathered at Sony Hall to celebrate a huge milestone- our 20th Anniversary! The concert event benefitted Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Random House Children’s Books and The Actors Fund announced that they have partnered to release B IS FOR BROADWAY: Onstage and Backstage from A to Z. The book is the follow-up to the hit debut picture book A Is for Audra, which has had Broadway fans young and old clamoring to add it to their collections.

Following a month-long run that featured several dozen one-person theatre productions from across the globe, United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, concluded its twelfth season at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York by presenting this year's awards at the United Solo Closing Gala.

Good news! Broadway's wonderful Wicked has made its highly anticipated return to the stage of the Gershwin Theatre. Composer Stephen Schwartz was in attendance at tonight's performance and joined the company for opening night bows, as was original Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth, who made a pre-show speech. This past year since Broadway has been shut down, The Actors Fund has distributed over $19 million in cash assistance to members of the industry.

The Actors Fund and affordable housing developer Thomas Safran & Associates, broke ground on The Hollywood Arts Collective, a $120 million project that will include 151 units of affordable housing for artists, the Glorya Kaufman Theater, rehearsal studios, non-profit arts office space and a new home for The Actors Fund Western Region Headquarters.

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical has generated a total of $2 million to benefit The Actors Fund, making this the most successful fundraiser in Actors Fund history.

The premiere of the virtual benefit performance of Ratatouille: the TikTok Musical took place last night Friday, January 1 at 7pm ET and will stream for 72 hours only through TodayTix. 

As was announced earlier today via TikTok, the Tony Award-winning theatrical production company Seaview (Slave Play; Sea Wall/A Life) will present, for one performance only, Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical on Friday, January 1, 2021 at 7:00pm ET to benefit The Actors Fund. 

The Happy Hour Guys and Gun Hill Brewing Company announced today the launch of Curtain Up– Save the Arts, the sixth beer in the Broadway Brews six-pack that will help raise funds for     The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in entertainment and performing arts.
