Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that Emilie Koutachou will take over the principal role of ‘Christine Daaé’ in the New York production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on the night that the musical celebrates its unprecedented 34th Anniversary on Wednesday evening, January 26 at 7PM.

This Monday, Broadway superstar Derek Klena (Jagged Little Pill, Dogfight, Wicked) joins Rob Morean (Torch Song) and Jarvis Derrell (VH1) as they take over Motel23 for their weekly Broadway residency series, Backstage Tea at Motel23. For reservations, email backstagetea@motel23nyc.com

Emilie Kouatchou made her Broadway debut as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera last night at the Wednesday, October 27 performance!  Kouatchou is the first black actor to play the role on Broadway. 

The Phantom of the Opera is officially back and Broadway is Broadway again! As a part of the celebration, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and producer Cameron Mackintosh took the stage for a special speech, and afterwards Webber took to the streets for a special DJ set in front of The Majestic.
