World-famous guitar-maker Paul Reed Smith and his band, Eightlock, are set to release their new CD, 'Lions Roaring in Quicksand,' on December 1st. The album showcases their unique blend of blues, soul, rock, funk, and other roots sounds, with a lineup featuring three drummers, a bass player, a female singer, and three guitar players.

The compositions making up This Moment each pass through a series of connected movements, highlighting different vocal and instrumental sub-groups within Shakti while transitioning between taut thematic statements, riveting solos from McLaughlin and Rajagopalan, invigorating rhythmic shifts, and soaring vocal passages by Mahadevan.

Shakti, featuring founding members John McLaughlin on guitar and Zakir Hussain on tabla, plus renowned vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, will play the Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St., on Tuesday, August 29 at 7:30 pm. Banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck opens.
