The Shotgun Players have announced their 2023 season of stunning and provocative theatre celebrating diversity and connection.

Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen John Cameron Mitchell (Sandman, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), one of alt-culture's boldest creators, joins forces with international cabaret star Amber Martin in rare downtown appearance with a brand new evening of songs, stories and characters, all chosen by the hand of fate on the 'cassette roulette.' Backed by Justin Craig and the Hedwig house band Tits of Clay, and featuring opening set from J. Hoard, it's never the same show twice!

'Celebrating Lucy Simon'  will feature never-before-heard stories from Simon herself, as well as from collaborators Judy Collins, Marshall Brickman, Marsha Norman, Victoria Clark, and more. In episode 5 which debuts Monday, October 17 Dr.  Jackie helps her receptionist Sherry Vine deal with a recent breakup and Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio break out of her shell. Founding Artistic Director George Strus has announced the complete cast and additional creative team members for the inaugural Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival. Curated by Strus, Dominique Rider and Josephine Kearns, Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival will feature seven evenings of work created and developed by TNB2S+ theatermakers.

Bitch began writing Bitchcraft eight years ago over the course of several moves and political movements. After landing in Los Angeles, she assembled a creative coven to complete the project including Anne Preven (Beyonce, Madonna, Demi Lovato), God-des, and Roma Baran (Laurie Anderson) who all advised her on the production.

This November 2022, musical theater is coming to LUSH Lounge and Theatre and will debuting La Cage Aux Folles!

Hot on the heels of a successful summer tour with Indigo Girls, legendary queer icon Bitch is thrilled to share upcoming West Coast tour dates as well as several October shows supporting Ani DiFranco. Bitch is playing shows to celebrate her beloved, poppy and poetic album Bitchcraft out now on Kill Rock Stars. 

Later this month, Charlotte’s Blumenthal Performing Arts will present the world premiere of BLACKSTAR SYMPHONY, The Music of David Bowie, with featured guest vocalist John Cameron Mitchell. A collaboration between BLACKSTAR SYMPHONY Artistic Director Donny McCaslin and The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, led by Conductor Tim Davies, the concert is a unique and singular interpretation of the music of Blackstar, Bowie’s final musical masterpiece, which was released two days before his untimely death.

Tony Award nominee L Morgan Lee (she/her, A Strange Loop) will direct the final evening of Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival – an evening of 15 newly commissioned monologues created by members of the TNB2S+ community - on Sunday October 16 at 7:00pm at Theatre Row’s first floor space, Theatre One.

Bitch just completed a run of shows opening for Indigo Girls and is eager to bring her captivating, autobiographical show that weaves the songs from Bitchcraft together with story-telling to fans on the East Coast. Her upcoming headline tour will kick off on September 22 with a special performance at Joes Pub.

HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH made its debut Off Broadway in 1998, an in-your-face rock musical with a non-hetero-normative central character that shocked audiences with its raw narrative.
