Penobscot Theatre Company, the nation's Northeastern-most professional year-round theatre company, will kick off its 46th season with the rousing music and moving stories of American people as seen through the eyes of Woody Guthrie. WOODY GUTHRIE'S AMERICAN SONG, a Maine premiere, will play September 5-29 at the Historic Bangor Opera House in downtown Bangor, Maine.

Company of Fools (COF) will kick off its 23rd season of dynamic theatre programming in late June with Woody Guthrie's American Song, an ensemble musical based on the famed singer-songwriter's folk music and writings that was praised by The Seattle Times as "An exuberant musical celebration of our nation, our history, and our shared humanity." Directed by Kent Thompson with musical direction by R.L. Rowsey, the production will run June 26-July 15 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. Woody Guthrie's American Song is presented in conjunction with The Center's BIG IDEA project We the People: Protests and Patriotism.

you are my sunshine - a new play with folk songs …based on a true story by Kelli Kerslake Colaco is a multi-decade (1927-1956) character study of a man of mythic American proportions whose passions and demons lead to tragedy. Narrated in Woody Guthrie-style folk songs - accompanied by Bay Area music favorites Chris Haugen (guitar) and Trevor Marcom (vocals/guitar), the fact-inspired ensemble drama focuses on the search for truth behind a dark family legend vis-a-vis an ancestor and the women and children in his life.

RED ROSES, GREEN GOLD will now conclude its limited engagement at the Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane) on Sunday, February 18, 2018 (previously announced for March 18). At the time of closing RED ROSES, GREEN GOLD will have played 21 previews and 129 regular performances.
