Women of Color on Broadway Will Celebrate LaChanze and Melba Moore at The Cooper Union's Great Hall

Women of Color on Broadway, a non-profit dedicated to supporting women of African, Latin, and Asian descent pursuing careers in musical theater, will present its Purple Crystal Honorary Awards in The Cooper Union's Great Hall on February 10, 2020. This year's honorees are Tony-award winners LaChanze and Melba Moore. The award celebrates the heroines of African, Latin, and Asian descent who paved the way for the next generation of women of color in theater.

Hosted by the actress/comedienne Julie Halston, BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! will hold its special tenth-anniversary fundraiser, featuring an evening of the hottest music and comedy in town to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). This year's event will honor 10-time Tony-Award Winning Producer Daryl Roth with the Ralph Howard Legacy Award and will take place on Monday, February 24, at 5:30 pm at the Edison Ballroom (240 W, 47th St.) in New York City.

Broadway's Rema Webb (upcoming production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Unmasked, Disney's Hercules, Escape to Margaritaville, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, Violet, The Color Purple) has long believed in the power of dreams. She's chased them, caught them, and made them real - challenges and fears be darned. For some time now, she's also been committed to helping young aspiring performers realize the power of their own dreams through her non profit organization.

Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell to Star In One-Night Only Benefit Concert of RAGTIME

The Actors Fund announced today that the music of the Tony Award-winning Ragtime will once again be heard on Broadway in a one-night only benefit concert on Monday, April 27, 2020, at the Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th St.). This celebratory benefit concert will star original cast members, with six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald ('Sarah') and two-time Tony Award-winner, Brian Stokes Mitchell ('Coalhouse Walker, Jr.') scheduled to appear. Further casting will be announced and tickets will go on sale at a later date. All proceeds from this one-night only benefit concert will support The Actors Fund.

Nikkole Salter, Portia and More to Star in Page 73's STEW

Page 73 (Michael Walkup, Artistic Director; Amanda Feldman, Managing Director; Rebecca Yaggy, Director of Development; Liz Jones and Asher Richelli, Founding Directors) have announced complete casting for the world premiere of STEW, written by Zora Howard (Premature, IFC Films) and directed by Colette Robert (Behind the Sheet). Performances of STEW begin on Monday, January 20 at the Walkerspace Theatre for a limited run through Saturday, February 22. Opening night is set for Saturday, February 1.

Theatre Communications Group Will Honor David Henry Hwang and National Black Theatre Festival at 2020 Gala

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the 2020 TCG Gala: Our Stories will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at The Edison Ballroom (240 W 47th Street). The Gala will honor the National Black Theatre Festival of Winston-Salem and David Henry Hwang and will include festive performances, inspiring speakers, and a celebratory dinner with theatre leaders, celebrities, and enthusiasts. A 6:00pm cocktail reception will be followed by a 7:00pm seated dinner, with entertainment beginning at 7:20pm. Additional programming will be announced soon.

SLAVE PLAY Launches New Ticket Gifting Service

An offhand tweet from Jeremy O. Harris turned into an organic movement during the NYTW run of SLAVE PLAY. It started with his artist friends and active community members writing him to say they couldn't afford the ticket prices for his show. He responded by putting out an appeal to his 'rich friends' on social media, asking them to go to the box office, buy tickets to SLAVE PLAY, and leave them there for others to use.
