The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will play its first Broadway preview on March 15th prior to its March 29th opening night; the final performance is scheduled for June 10th.

Wilson, and Executive Producer Robert Cole announced today that ONCE, the new musical based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film, will play Broadway's Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre this spring. Transport Group,'s 2011 Gimme A Break! benefit honored playwright Douglas Carter Beane and composer/lyricist Lewis Flinn last night, December 5 at the Asia Society and Museum. Gimme A Break! began with a cocktail reception followed by a performance featuring Broadway stars sharing their 'big break' experiences through stories and songs. Beane and Flinn received the Transporting American Theatre Award for their outstanding contributions to American theatre.

Yesterday, December 5, The not-for-profit Clive Barnes Foundation announced Rent's MJ Rodriguez the winner of the 2011 award, which celebrates the work of young dancers and actors. The ceremony was held at The Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.
SILENCE! The Musical, the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, with book by Hunter Bell ([title of show]), music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction & choreography by Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific, Newsies), began performances at The 9th Space Theatre at PS122 (150 First Avenue at 9th Street) on October 25th and officially opened last night.
New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse is currently in rehearsal for Irving Berlin's White Christmas, directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Randy Skinner and musical direction by Steven Freeman. The cast features: James Clow (Bob Wallace), Tony Yazbeck (Phil Davis), Jill Paice (Betty Haynes), Meredith Patterson (Judy Haynes), Edward James Hyland (General Waverly) and Lorna Luft (Martha Watson). The show begins performances on Wednesday, November 16 and runs at the Millburn theater through Saturday, December 24. Opening night is scheduled for Sunday, November 20.
