The Flynn has announced a new series for young kids in the community: FlynnZone Kids Hour, free monthly performances for kids ages 3 to 5. Each month, the Flynn invites a different local artist or group to the theater to play a variety of fun and interactive shows in a safe and welcoming environment.

The Flynn reopened it's doors on Saturday, October 23. The house was full as the Flynn welcomed the community back to the historic theater with a Grand Reopening Celebration. This event marked the first time the theater has been open to the public since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Flynn has announced its 2021-2022 Broadway season, which welcomes fan-favorite blockbusters, side-splitting improv theater, and shows that appeal to the whole family. The season gets started with the much-anticipated return of the annual showcase Burlington Does Broadway on December 31.

Kimmel Center Announces New Jazz Residency Teams, Focus On Social Justice Issues

The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus has announced three new Jazz Residency teams for the 2019-20 season: Ruth Naomi Floyd (Composer/Vocals) and Charles a?oeChaza?? Lattimore Howard (Lyricist/Poet); Immanuel Wilkins (Composer/Saxophone) with Rog Walker (Photographer) and David Dempewolf (Video Installation); and Richard Hill Jr. (Composer/Voice/Bass). Each team will create a new, relevant, and engaging a?oePhilly Madea?? work for the community. In the Kimmel Center Jazz Residency's seventh consecutive year, all three of these original pieces will focus on the relationship of Philadelphia against a social issue, including the homelessness issue, the introspective examination of one's cultural identity as a citizen, and a futuristic look at neighborhoods.
Kimmel Center Opens New, Free & Interactive Plaza Exhibition Featuring Two Art Installations

Come for the seat. Stay for the spin! But Look Up! Look Ina?? The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus is excited to open a new, 3-month, FREE Plaza exhibition featuring works from multiple Mexican artists. Los Trompos, an interactive installation in Commonwealth Plaza, brings to life ten 3D spinning tops; Philadelphians are invited to sit or spin on the structures, fulfilling the artists' vision for collaboration and community interaction as the public works together to make the structures move. The creations of Mexican designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena, these colorful sculptures are created by artists utilizing a traditional fabric weave and appear in varied shapes and colors. The Kimmel Center has commissioned Look Up! Look In by Mexican-American, Philadelphia-based artist Karina Puente and Karina Puente Arts International. Puente has designed a?oePapel Picadoa??, 53 hand-cut panels suspended above the Commonwealth Plaza. The installations are 5-feet wide and range between 6-12 feet long.
