When it comes to summer programming, The Royal Theatre in Benton has proven that they are absolute geniuses. Their commitment to youth involvement is unmatched—case in point: they didn’t just choose to produce Disney’s Newsies (running August 7–17), they also just wrapped up a high-energy, heart-stealing production of Newsies Jr., which I had the delight of catching on Friday, August 1.

Sprawling the dark and dirty streets of turn of the 19th century New York City, Disney’s Newsies at Music Theatre Wichita, is a story of underdogs going head to head with top dogs. A family friendly musical with athletic leaping, tumbling, tapping, and an uplifting sense of community.

Just a week after he wraps up his final performance in the titular role of FLOYD COLLINS on Broadway—a role that earned him a 2025 Tony Award nomination—musical theater icon Jeremy Jordan will head to Los Angeles to perform his long-running and (as of now) nearly sold-out one-man show at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, June 28–29.
