Mizner Park Cultural Center will once again host a wide variety of entertainment and events over the coming weeks.  Comedy, music, magic, and live theatre are all on the popular venue's schedule during March and April.  Below is a list of just a few of the performances that will take place at the Center this spring:

Montalvo Arts Center will present rock photographer, director, and author Ethan Russell in The Best Seat in the House. In this enthralling presentation, Ethan Russell (the only photographer to shoot album covers for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who) guides audiences through 400+ photographs and 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes stories, including The Beatles' Last Concert on the Roof, on stage with the Rolling Stones at Altamont, and shooting the iconic cover for The Who's Who's Next, among many other historic events. Russell offers an up-close and personal look at the rock star lifestyle from an unmatched perspective. 'True stories and the pictures to prove it,' he says. The Segal Centre is thrilled to be welcoming back Tony nominee and 4-time Dora winner Louise Pitre and W. Joseph Matheson (as seen in 2018's hit The Angel and the Sparrow) for a concert celebration of Jewish musical artists of the 60s. Directed by Avery Saltzman, The Times They Are a Changin' will be rocking the Sylvan Adams Theatre from March 1 to March 22, 2020. 

Performance theatre comes in many forms, yet something about self-proclaimed 'speaker-songwriter' Minton Sparks sets her work apart from the rest, and she has the track record to prove it. Often referred to as the love child of Flannery O'Connor and Hank Williams, Sparks brings her melodic and captivating show to Kennesaw State University February 6-8, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the Stillwell Theater.

Chris Stapleton's “All-American Road Show” will return this summer and fall with an extensive new run of shows including stops at Washington State's Gorge Amphitheatre on June 20, Atlanta's Truist Park on July 18, Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on October 2 and New York's Madison Square Garden on October 10. Additionally, on August 29, Stapleton will make his headline debut at Chicago's famed Wrigley Field with special guests The Highwomen, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and The Dirty Knobs with Mike Campbell. Additional guests along the tour include (in alphabetical order) Dwight Yoakam, Elle King, Hank Williams Jr., Kendell Marvel, Margo Price, Nikki Lane, Sheryl Crow, The Marcus King Band and Yola.

The Justin Kemp Band released their new country single 'Legends Never Die' on December 20, 2019. This original classic country song is a clever tribute to Country Music legends whose song titles compose most of the lyrics. Each line has been skillfully gleaned from many classic country hit songs from legends such as George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Conway Twitty, Buck Owens & Hank Williams Sr.  Their songs continue to inspire Country Music fans, and Justin hopes that this 'new' single will in fact showcase how relevant they are today and will keep country music alive for generations to come. 

The Drama League presents DirectorFest,  the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. Launching the 2020 series is the musical Hello Again, with Book, Music and Lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, Music Direction by Jesse Kissel, and Directed by 2019 Drama League Leo Shull Musical Directing Fellow Ben Randle.

The Recording Academy® is honored to announce its 2020 Special Merit Awards recipients. The Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are Chicago, Roberta Flack, Isaac Hayes, Iggy Pop, John Prine, Public Enemy and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Ken Ehrlich, Philip Glass and Frank Walker are Trustees Award honorees; and George Augspurger is the Technical GRAMMY® Award recipient. A special award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the honorees will be held on April 18, 2020, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The Drama League (Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Director Bevin Ross) announced today the acting company for the 36th annual DirectorFest, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. Directorfest will take place January 10 - February 4, 2020 at various locations around NYC: The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street), The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas), LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (31-10 Thomson Avenue), and Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). Legendary country music artist, Bobby Bare, has released a brand new song “Snowflake In The Wind.” Keeping with the traditions of the genre, Bare tells the story of heartbreak and trying to find his way after a loss, “drifting like a snowflake in the wind.” Throughout the song, Bare contemplates moving to different places, but continuously mentions that he will always see her face, eventually ending up where he has always been.
