Sony Masterworks Broadway today released the official music video for “Be The Light” from the Studio Cast Recording of WITNESS UGANDA (AN AMERICAN MUSICAL). The emotionally-charged ballad features vocals by GRAMMY Award-winning R&B songstress Ledisi alongside Griffin Matthews, Emma Hunton, and the Witness Uganda ensemble.

As presented by Sony Masterworks Broadway on WITNESS UGANDA (AN AMERICAN MUSICAL), the musical surprised me with its catchy musical hooks and rhythms, gorgeous vocal performances, and the universality of its story despite its Biblical references.

The track is from the upcoming Studio Cast Recording of Witness Uganda (An American Musical). The new album will also feature the voices of Cynthia Erivo, GRAMMY-winning recording artist Ledisi, and stage-and-screen stars Nicolette Robinson, Emma Hunton, and Kristolyn Lloyd, as well as Tyrone Davis Jr., Jai’Len Josey, Amber Iman, and more.

This evening, Wicked on Broadway, will welcome actor Jordan Barrow to its principal cast in the role of Boq. The role marks Barrow's Broadway debut, as well as the first Black actor to play the role in North America.  

Sony Masterworks Broadway today announced the release of the Studio Cast Recording of WITNESS UGANDA (AN AMERICAN MUSICAL), an album of music from the powerful musical envisioned by creative duo Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews. Available February 11, 2022, the album features 24 songs from the show, as performed by Matthews and a star-studded cast including multihyphenate superstar Cynthia Erivo, GRAMMY-winning recording artist Ledisi, and stage-and-screen stars Nicolette Robinson, Emma Hunton and Kristolyn Lloyd, among others.

Pioneering arts leader Paul Crewes, who has served since 2015 as the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts' first Artistic Director, steps down from his position at the end of this year and transitions to a new role as Artistic Advisor for the balance of The Wallis' 2021-2022 Season, it was announced by Michael Nemeroff, Chairman of the Board.

Goodman Theatre has announced Heather Headley, Tony Award-winning Broadway actor and Grammy Award-winning singer, will headline the “Together Center Stage” virtual 2021 gala fundraiser. Among the many accolades in her career, Headley is known for her acclaimed performance in the Elton John-Tim Rice musical Aida.
